Ok thank you, and to tune it with my cb because I believe it has a swr built in I just need to adjust the diald

adjust the antenna length. whether its using the little deal under the antenna cap that is mentioned above, or adding a spacer to the antenna, or trimming some off of the wire. depends on your antenna.

     • Switch the meter to "REF" (Reflect) or "SWR" and record the reading.
   • Check SWR on Channel 40: Repeat the above process for Channel 40 and record the reading.
   • Interpret Results & Adjust Length:
     • If SWR is higher on Channel 40: The antenna is too long. Shorten it by turning the tuning tip/screw down, or cutting the whip in 1/8-inch increments.
     • If SWR is higher on Channel 1: The antenna is too short. Lengthen it by turning the tip/screw up.
   • Repeat: Repeat steps 3–5 until the SWR is roughly equal on both channels and as low as possible (ideally under 1.5).

Important Tips

• Safety First: Do not hold the microphone for more than 5 seconds while checking, as high SWR can damage the radio.
• Replace Tip: Always replace the antenna's weather cap before taking final readings, as it affects tuning.
• Initial Setup: Ensure the antenna mount has a good ground connection to the vehicle chassis.
• Small Changes: Make very small adjustments to the antenna length, as even 1/4 inch can significantly change the SWR.

Thank you, I’m thinking I’m gonna get a 4 foot antenna just to try this all out for now but I’ll watch these videos to learn, thank you

If your CB has an output power setting I'd suggest turning that right down to the minimum while you do you antenna tuning too. That'll be easiest on your output transistors.

Do you have the user manual? I just found it online and the antenna running procedure is pretty easy and straightforward on that radio. Basically you key up the mic, calibrate the meter to full scale with the SWR/CAL switch set on CAL, then tune your antenna until you get the lowest reading with the switch set to SWR.

nice cb. i like cobras. as you play with it, there are little things you can do to make it more powerful too. thats for later on if you like it though.

adding stuff inline to make it more powerful can get you in trouble though. i forget what the amplifier is called some people use with a cb but that can make you get visits from different types of government people you might not want visiting you so don't fall for adding those types. a linear amplifier? something like that

I don’t really care for Rang I mean sure it’s cool I just want the cb and I want it to be halfway decent still I just want a cb I think there cool
