700 Lb spring & a "spring helper"? I don't have anything heavy up front. 800 Lb Eibach works well (for me) with ONLY 1" preload. Anymore preload then the truck sits higher & you end up with less travel. There is a road defect just down a half mile from my driveway, if you drive into this 30' long 3 foot deep asphalt paved rut at 45-50mph, you get full travel. Even on my F150, the tye-rap test shows how far down the shaft the body traveled, right about full travel, Apx 4.3" (1" drop on the ground negative travel) . Eibach Cat 2025 <catalouge< The front motion ratio of shock/spring travel to wheel travel is approximately 0.65:1 (typically ranging between 0.6:1 and 0.7:1). That means that for every 0.6" of shock travel, you get 1" inch of wheel travel. Typically my -040- Fox Shock with the 1000-250-0800 spring, the spring is listed as having a total travel of 5.33" Its reciprocal =1.54:1 which means that 5.33 x 1.54= 8.20" of wheel travel.

Some google help.....
What You Should Check
  • Bump Stops vs. Solid Height: Your bump stops must be set up to engage before the coil spring reaches its solid (fully compressed) height or maximum safe travel limit.
  • Spring Choice: If you are frequently packing the coils all the way down, you either need a stiffer spring rate, a spring with a higher total travel/longer design, or properly adjusted/extended bump stops to limit uptravel safely.

Spring helper is just a very weak spring that sits on top of the spring, allowing you to have practically zero preload while preventing the spring from unseating or slamming around at full droop. Makes the truck ride the spring directly without preload making the ride smoother. Spoke at length with Chris and it seems to be the way to go for my application. Nice part is that I can always take it out and try the direct spring with preload.

Understand, like a dual setup. Well it stacks up, hoping that it's no longer than an inch of space otherwise like I mentioned it will hamper the full stroke. Get it on!
