My 2000 Green Ranger 5.0 lowered AWD

Ehh… that was a misprint, I’ll issue a correction… 30’x100’
Ok. That’s much better. Maybe you should line one entire wall with a 30” x 100’ workbench… so you can still kinda stick to the original plan.

I’m not opposed to that idea…

You see, I have this problem where I can’t leave anything alone. Think of Tim “the toolman” Taylor on Home Improvement with a better success rate, lol.

I look up to people like @bobbywalter with all the things they do to their rigs. It’s an inspiration. Once I get myself a garage with a lift, it’s really gonna be game on.

quite a few modifications.....especially transmission upgrades were done on the side of the road...or in the trails...

Bumper progress on the green Ranger. All 1/8” steel. Lots more to come on this design, I need to tack it together and test fit so I can figure out the rest of the pieces needed.

More bumper progress. It’s getting heavier. Gotta figure out what I want for bracing, make the pockets for the fog lights, bend up the tube and finish weld yet, then I can paint and install. Pretty happy with how it’s shaping up. I’m going to build a front hitch that fits through the window in it between the factory tow hooks at some future point. I was originally going to try to build it into the bumper, but I was doing some head scratching on how exactly I wanted to do it and realized I could save myself time on getting the truck back on the road and brain cells by just building a separate hitch which ideally would also work with a factory bumper.

i would rip the powertrain and take my plasma to it......fix its lil red wagon...

10 gauge hackins would be bloberama all over

I’m not excited about the idea of pulling the motor to fix it. If it was a normal Ranger engine, maybe, but the 5.0? No, doing this by myself outside at this time of the year I’m inclined to try and work around it. I have an idea for repairing it that may simply the process and limit how much welding I have to do under the truck. It will get plated with 1/8” no matter how I end up fixing it though. Gonna happen soon, I need a solid truck.

aye...

your not setup for easy out. so i feel for that.

just draining and dealing with the fluids is enough for me to not want to pull anything, and that is with my self ejecting powertrain on solids.... conventional and a low rider awd is misery in comparables.

but.... rust never sleeps and metal never forgets. shit wont fix itself.

i would rip it in this case.....full monty from cab mounts forward.

My core support is bolted in. So I’m partially easy-out. Probably should yank it to try and figure out why it seems to be pissing oil from everywhere. But I’m still kinda traumatized over having it tore apart for like 3 years and needing it back on the road ASAP and there’s only one of me who can’t work at it full tilt yet because of health problems. So it’s an ugly situation.

I wouldn't worry about it, it will quit pissing eventually. :icon_thumby:

after watching the video a few more times....i would just get a frame.

need some southern iron.

no.....

you have to keep it full of pissins or you will have to walk if you let it quit pissing.

This 👆

I almost always a bad idea to patch a frame. If one spot is rusted through, there’s probably another spot that’s in the same shape and you haven’t found it yet.

thats the good thing about my style frame.

first, it was intentionally built to last. total opposite of the jap counterparts they were working away from....and its just dumb ass c channel. easy to fix.
