Flashing Battery Symbol?

2003 4.0 Auto. Yesterday I got into the throttle to get up to speed to clear a bunch of leaves out of the bed. When I did that the battery symbol in the instrument cluster started flashing. Once I got out of the gas the symbol stopped flashing and all is well. Any idea why the symbol would flash?

Was it a regular, timed flash? Or random blinking like a loose bulb or bad connection?

I'm not aware of anything specifically designed to make it blink like a fault message.

It was rapidly flashing but as soon as I got out of the gas it stopped.

Perhaps, your belt was slipping at the high RPMs when you got into it. I can see the alternator momentarily stopping and catching (belt slip), causing the BAT light.

Might be a good time to look at the belt, and replace it if it's janky.

The alternator would have to stop for it to be the belt, there's usually a lot of wrap on the alternator pulley... my guess is the alternator is going out and the brushes are getting worn out and more rpm made them skip the contacts on the stator... or the regulator on the alternator is quitting... I would plan to keep an eye on the volts and that light and replace the expect to replace the alternator in the near future.
