That's not even really in the water except the bumper and maybe power steering or ac.

I was picturing it sitting at the angle in this Pic of my kids and my old wrangler.

Don't forget the FWD 3.5/3.7 Fords where the water pump is driven by the timing chain. My wife and I love her edge, but that water pump is one thing i don't like. I have another year of extended warranty on it

Earlier 3.0 Escape V-6s have the water pump driven by a v belt from the front bank intake camshaft. It's on the transmission side of the engine and there's no safety sensor to turn on a warning light if the belt fails.

Water in the engine has been killing engines for centuries...

It is much easier to protect an EFI engine than it is one with a carb, I have worked thru putting a snorkel on mine and more than splash protection is pretty hard to do.

I really did not like driving in deep water before mine stranded me in freaking river anyway... so it is easiest so far to just avoid it. The gut sinking moment the fire went out in mine I was terrified that it hydrolocked... thankfully it didn't.

That why I avoid it when I can and inspect carefully when I can't. A depth stick is a necessity when traveling. Even if that is the water line on your jeans...

Very true. Even if you just watched a car traverse it fine, they might've been on soft ground that gave way as they were passing for all you know. Or missed a pit by like an inch.
