Dans 94, RCSB, 4.0, 4x4, 5spd

Bought a new house and have been busy as heck with it so kinda haven’t been on here in awhile. I’m walking distance from work now so I don’t drive much either which is kinda cool. Probably haven’t put 500miles in this truck in 6 months, but I have used it around the new yard a bunch!

Here’s some random photos from the last few months. I used it to clear some swamp brush behind the new house, cut the big bumper off and started building a lighter version, hauled some fence material home, and did go out night wheeling once or twice but it was pretty uneventful.

You will notice the pics are sideways. I think the workaround is to use the little "mountain" icon beside the "link" icon to post pics.

Made more progress on the new bumper over the last few weeks. Added a bunch of 1.5x1.5x .125 square tube, as well as a larger fairlead and moved it out further, a diamond plate filler panel, and fog lights. Pretty happy so far, not totally done but it’s getting there. Also cut out the top rag joint in my ISS and welded in U joint which cured a lot of steering slop.

Also took the old girl out again and did some whoop blasting down a pipeline road in Ocala. I kinda forgot it was hunting season until the sun started coming up and all the hunters mobilized in their crappy hunt trucks with dog boxes in the back. While traversing the pipeline road which is a large 4-6 lane wide sandy swath cut through the forest with buried natural gas lines under it. Anyway there was two 2020+ silverados bouncing along that trail at maybe 10mph and looking like the ride was rough. I shot past them in third foot pinned to the floor probably 45-50mph and it felt glorious.

Lastly I realized that my headlights are straight garbage. Before I added the Diode Dynamics SS2 amber fogs back in I was unable to see at all while driving at night. After looking into it better I realized my driver head light appears to have had a bulb super heat all the chrome off the inside so it’s almost completely ineffective. The passenger side doesn’t look damaged but its output is fairly lackluster as well. I don’t want to put a blinding led bulb in a reflector housing but I did order Slyvanias top level halogen bulb to compare with the cheapos I have, and a new driver headlight housing. I wish someone would make decent headlights for these maybe a projector retrofit even.

I forgot I got some KC flex era pods and put them on brackets that mount by the A pillar. I think it looks kinda neat, I hope they work well, waiting on some 3 pin Deutsche connectors to show up before I can wire them. I believe they are a spot/flood combo which should be great as off-road hibeams.
