1993 Splash in SC

Have you ever seen japans version of a small truck? they have flatbeds with small (1ft maybe) sides that unlatch & hang off the sides (when sides arent needed) Weird looking things, think of a cabover, right hand drive , some have dually small back tires (like 14’s) and tall skinny fronts (like a 16) never looked at the sizes but very obvious theres a difference. and of course 2 spares under the butt. ( silly when they could of made all 6 tires a drop-center rim & same tire size) .Anyhow I thought the bed was a cool concept, Heres a few examples I found with a quick search:

I think I would use something around this era for inspiration...

Then I would look at bobby's rig for another viewpoint...

Then have some fun building it... and be sure to build it to use your table gate. You might need it for pizza night or something.

Brings to mind a idea: simple steel box within the framerails, and have removeable fenders! (still use tablegate- thats just too cool to not be utilized)

When I rework pig after I get my new ranger....drift project going.....(ugliest ranger I own yet) I will likely be building a new bed....because I will build into the cab my cage and superstructure like the bronco .... It is set up for 3 in body lift ...

It's simple..stake pocket type setup...high sides ..low sides ...or no sides

I will find some naked pics for ya ...

Errr...construction phase pics I mean ....easier to see what's there

That would be great. Thanks.

I wish the frame wasn't so vertically curvy back there. Seems like almost every crossmember will have to be a different height.

Yeah.... Chop saws...and scrap metal

Well, I bought some steel to get started. Had to cut some pieces so the remainder would fit in the garage.
