rear end took a dump

1984 bronco II 2.8 4x4, 4 speed stick shift tranny[ well this sucks ,I get the dura spark done new carb running good and remove all the junk emission crapola then my rear end takes a poo so now what ? is it worth the 500 to rebuild or do i find a rear end in the junk yard ? if i get a junk one, what do i look for ? off what years ,make ,vehicle ? also what about the rear drive shaft? any advice please

oh god don't speed $500 on that rear end.. look up 8.8 swaps.. you can get 8.8's that are (if you're lucky) 4.10's lsd and disc brakes.. and ALMOST bolt in swap. you do have to flip the spring perches and weld on shock tabs. just search 8.8 swap, and look in the tech library

or instead of 4.10's you should be able to get one to match your front gears-- if you're happy with those gears

first off, awesome thread title! i say go get a whole axle assembly from the junkyard. look for one that has the same axle code. it should be on the sticker on the inside of your driver door.
