Opinions on vinyl floor?

A stray cat got inside my truck earlier this year and sprayed the passenger seat. The seat had a cover I removed and tossed, then I doused the seat and floor with cleaner designed for cat urine.

Everything was fine, until we had a huge rainstorm about a week ago, something leaked and the passenger side floorboard got wet. I went to drive it a few days later and being damp inside with the windows rolled up combined with the heat made the smell return with a vengeance. Oh god was it bad. I ended up pulling the seat and ripping out all the carpet. The foam in the seats was shot and the carpet was stained anyway.

I'm considering putting in a vinyl floor instead since it is a work truck and I often take it fishing where the ground is muddy. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons?

I'm all in favor of vinyl floor. Easy to clean and durable.

I like vinyl floors better, just don't use Armor All on them. The woman who did recon for us would make them look like new with that stuff but it made them treacherous if your shoes were wet or even damp. I ordered my 04 Ranger with vinyl floors even though it meant I couldn't get chrome bumpers, I bought one of our last 11's out of stock and it had carpets. I considered ripping out the interior and replacing the carpet but the floor liners I bought installed in 30 seconds.

My 2019 has a vinyl floor. I like it so much I want put one in my 2011.

Nothing says "truck" like a rubber floor and a vinyl bench seat!

One of my trucks, the trash hauler "work truck", has the rubber mat, which I like for ease of cleaning and no worry about muddy feet. All of my other trucks have carpet, which does make for a quieter ride.

There's pros and cons, both ways, and it's more of a personal preference thing. If it's a beater or a leaker, the rubber floor is the way to go.

Vinyl floors are a lot nicer than vinyl seats... my truck had both originally. It also has neither now...

If I could have gotten a tan vinyl floor I would have, all they reproduced when I got my carpet was black and I didn't want a solid tan interior with a black floor.

I consider vinyl floors a selling point. Carpet is made for cars not trucks that do truck stuff.

Slippery when wet, but it doesn’t suck up water rot the floors from the inside out.

the only good excuse for carpet in a vehicle is for sound deadining, but that can be installed under the vinyl.

My 92 had a hole the size of a basketball under the rubber when I pulled it up.

Although I just assumed the rot started underneath and moisture just got trapped in the rubber floor.

Yup seems about right.

The problem with rubber floors is that IF water gets under it, it never dries. I ripped all that stupid insulation out of underneath on my truck. One day I'll put some waterproof dynamat or whatever down in its place.
