I'm sure I got a short.

thought for you on the running like crap and stalling when you come to a stop - the IAC valve can cause that - test by removing and see if it makes it worse... same means it is not working right. bench testing it can be done too
snipet out of an article:
"
If the idle air control valve is hot (50°C to 100°C), you expect a resistance value between 21.5 Ohms to 29.5 Ohms.

A cold IAC (-13°C to 50°C) is expected to have a resistance between 17 Ohms and 25 Ohms. In some car models, the resistance value goes as low as 7 Ohms.

So I tried both of those SLOSH MODULES I got at the junkyard today.
Neither one of them fixed my gas gauge problem.
So I tried bypassing one of them by putting tape on 1 side of it and a jumper wire on the other side.
Like I saw in the YouTube video "Brain" posted in post #287 of this thread.
That too did not fit my gas gauge.

At this point I'm left with having no choose but to take connector C118 apart and start testing the ohms. And see what I'm getting.

I will post again shortly with at least one picture.
Showing my wiring under my hood.
At that point I will ask my next set of questions.

So at this point I'm thinking the odds that all 3 of the "SLOTH MODULES" I now have being bad are not very high.

So as I said in my last post I believe I now have no choice but to disconnect connector C118. Then check the OHMS reading at pin 4 of that connector.

Picture I just took of wiring under my hood.
IMG_20250223_182636175.jpg

As you can see in the picture if look close I have no inner fender well on the driver side.
I believe the connector that I need to disconnect is the one I'm using the quarter inch drive extension to point at in the picture. It is being held up with a couple other wires and connectors off of rubbing the tire with a zip tie

There are three connectors in the same vicinity that look very much the same.

In the picture you can see one just underneath the front brake line from the master cylinder and then one right next to it the third one is the one I'm using the extension to point at.

As you can see all the wiring is very dirty.
The next Question I have at this point is what is the best substance to for me to use to clean the wiring off so I can tell the difference in the connectors.

I need to be able to tell the colors of the wires so I can tell which connector has the wire I need.

I currently have some carb cleaner, I also have some electrical wire connector cleaner.
I don't know which would be better to use or should I use brake cleaner or something else?

The next thing I want to address is I'm worried about breaking the connector locking clip on the connector or breaking something else.

I know I need to be careful. I don't want to chance disconnecting the wrong connector and having to worry about breaking something else.
I want to only mess with the right connector the first time and that way I only have to worry about it.

I don't want to use a substance that is really bad for the wires. Can anybody give me any advice?

Clean as best as you can with warm water and soap. Dawn dish detergent should work well. A small paint brush or toothbrush will help get between the wires. If necessary, after it's pretty dry, spray with your electrical contact cleaner as a final cleanup. But you should be able to see the wire colors after soap and water.

My brother I just talked to on the phone who lives in Alaska told me he would use automotive degreaser.

I like the Dawn dishwashing liquid ideal better.

Either should work fine. I figured you probably already have Dawn or something similar. That's worth trying before you go and buy something special.

I already have a little bit of degreaser. Just a little.
I have a lot, and I mean a lot of Dawn dishwashing liquid.
I use Dawn to do my dishes.
But I use Dawn way more to wash my hands once I'm done working on vehicles. Or anything other time I get my hands greasy.
Like when trying to get my brother's generator fixed.
Or any other time I wash my hands.

Good article on " idle air control valve " Brain.

I was just now able to set down and really read it.

I ran codes on my truck a few minutes ago.
I'm not sure I understand what they are right or not.
I took a video hopefully I can get it to post with this post I'm now writing.
My time counts my be wrong. I'm thinking I'm about a second off on them.
So here's what I believe I got.
At 14 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 16 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 18 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 21 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 23 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 26 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 33 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 39 seconds I believe I got a 2.
At 41 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 44 seconds I believe I got a 2.
At 47 seconds I believe I got a 2.
At 50 seconds I believe I got a 1.
At 53 seconds I believe I got a 2.

Well it's not letting me upload the video.
I'm getting a message that says:
"The uploaded file is too large for the server to process.".

The video is only 60 seconds long. I don't understand why I can't upload it. The YouTube video I've seen posted are way longer than that.

On to next order of business.
I also made some cleaning liquid to try and clean my wires off with.
I do know for sure sure which connector I need to unhook already however.

Dawn before adding water.

After adding water.

After shaking up.

I just turned my camera on and found the settings.
Screenshot_20250224-130310.png

In the video settings where it says Efficient videos.
That looks to be turned off to me. If I turn that on then retake my video should I then be able to upload it in a post?

I don't understand why I can't add a video.
I've turned all the settings off on my camera.
And I even put it on the settings that looks like a flower 🌼. Nothing seems to be working.

Now when I sent that last post I got a message that said:
TheRangerStation says files are still being uploaded.
Do you still want to summit this form?
Or something like that anyway.
It said it for this post as well.

My understanding is you can't load video directly to TRS. You load video to YouTube or similar and put a link in your post.
