I'm sure I got a short.

Okay 1st. Thanks for that information Brain
2nd. CEL stands for " check engine light " correct?

Now I've not read the codes readout pages yet.
But if I remember right before I went to prison 20 years ago, on Chevy products you could use the paper clip to pull codes as well. And there was always a starting and stopping number that was the same.
Is it the same now with our Rangers?

I think it is a single blip (with 6 full seconds pause on either side)... but to be honest it has been forever since I did this too... I guess I should check to see if I have any, but it runs like a top so I haven't messed.

I completely understand.
If it ain't broke don't try and fix it.

So I'm sure you read my post last night about my truck acting up like it did.
(At least I hope you did.)

In that post I talked about 1 of the posts on my coil pack not sending out any spark to the spark plug wire when I remove the wire.
I bought that coil pack when I was trying to figure out my no spark issue, when I first got the truck.

I still have the old coil pack.
I'm thinking about putting it on my truck and seeing if all 6 of its post send out spark.

I don't think it would hurt to just change that one part for this one test.
I can always put the one that's on there now back on there.
And if it works on all 6 posts it will be better for my truck.
What's your opinion?

on these computerized ones - always start with codes, it is free diagnostic info rather than parts cannon $$$$

she doesn't say it, but the flash at 32 seconds and 56 seconds is the single separator (@ 32 sec is initial start, @ 56 sec is between short term and continuous memory):

so in that example video she had 11, 11 in short term
18 and 88 in continuous memory

It's a pain in the ass to count both seconds between flashes and the flashes, so I just tick hash marks on paper without counting, and then move to the next row each pause - add up the tick marks and figure it out afterwards.

Okay going to watch that video now.

Well 1st her voice sure did sound nice.
2nd I like that view it's pretty good. Simple to the point.
I have to practice it a little bit. I'm sure I can get it down though.

I'm sure that once I count the same numbers more then so many times I will know the codes have started over again.

Now that I think of it I unhooked my battery for quite a while during painting, so there probably wont be any codes for me - it was ice cold for 3 or 4 weeks.

I would most likely be willing to bet your right on that.

My truck has ice in the bed right now.
I guess that means I at least got a good bed liner.

Some of my running around today was taking 3 different vehicles batteries to 3 different parts stores to have them charged and tested.
I'll go back tomorrow and pick them up.
