Not sure what's going on, but this truck almost got me in a wreck.

So I was turning left at an intersection when all of a sudden it darn near stopped in the middle of the turn with oncoming traffic.

The traction control light light was flashing and it sounded like there some kind of binding up front. I turned traction control off and it still did it, but at least it let me keep accelerating. Not sure what the binding noise is, there shouldn't be any power to the front wheels in 2wd right? After I kept playing with it trying to figure out why, eventually the traction light came on solid and it wouldn't do it anymore. So I figure it must not be mechanical.

Not sure if it matters, but my 4wd quit working just before this happened. I noticed when I fired up the truck today, it kept making the clicking noise in the dash like it would when it was trying to shift into 4wd.

Likely the ABS started to activate due to wheel speed mismatch.

Traction control works with the ABS.

not saying it's what your problem is... just that it sounds like it's could be the culprit.

The more I think of it... this could have been normal operation.

Traction control when enabled will activate the ABS pump to pulse brake fluid to a spinning wheel to force it to slow down so the none spinning wheel receives engine power to gain traction. If it was a tight turn with oncoming traffic and you got a bit heavy on the skinny pedal... one rear wheel broke loose. ABS fired up... which is a pump motor and comes on with a semi loud whirling sound. Then the solenoids fire off with a clacking sound to pulse brake fluid to where it needs to go. The vehicle also slows down a bit due to brakes being applied.

It's all a guess... but it makes sense.

Yeah, that makes sense. The issue is intermittent, but when it does it, it keeps doing it.

FWIW... I've had a couple wheel speed sensors personally. The quit sending signal at slow speeds. When the ABS sees one wheel stop and the rest are still moving... the split second you touch the brake pedal... it fies up and starts clattering. Kinda scary because if you really want to stop... it's a slow roll to get stopped.

Check connectors at the speed sensors. You can view live data to find which one. The fronts are easy. If the truck pulls right when braking... LF wheel. And vice versa

traction control and Roll Stability Control both use the brakes but are activated separately by the computer(s).
