^^^^^^ Now I like that! Taking stuff that served it's purpose and re-constructed them for a totally different purpose! Nice!

forgot about this thread when i originally posted this. Thanks for getting me back on track Richard!

Made this ages ago when i was into computers. it was specially made not to interfere with electrically sensitive equipment.

and clamped together notice it actually works

sensitive enough to light up by touching both probes

and a schematic if anyone is interested in making one. I'm decent at wiring and reading schematics, terrible at drawing them so i do apologize.

if you're interested it only took about half an hour and cost me less than $2.00, i had everything but the board just laying around.

Thanks for the schematic CHKNFKR! I'm making one today. Did you use acid core or rosin core solder?

rosin core. its been a while since i've messed with this kind of thing, but you might try out one of the diy pcb kits. it was a super messy process when i made this so i didn't bother, but i have a feeling its been refined since then. should also give you a smaller footprint and a more professional looking finished product.

As long as it works good, I don't care about looks. Just like scratches on my truck, they aren't scratches, they're Arizona Pinstripes!

Nice!! And beefy!!

i like how your guide plates were formed on the press they became a part of.:icon_thumby:

Well, I don't want that thing slipping off. And I have you to thank for all your input! Notice I reinforced the inside of the bazzoka pipes?

yup...i saw that.and that 20 ton jack will keep the effort down.i'm amazed how that thing pushes, even lifting a huge boat with it is effortless.

So, in order to pull out the axleshafts and dig out the 3rd member, the spindles have to be removed from the knuckle. This is a b!tch. So instead of beating with a chisel or pry, I whipped this guy up. I made an attachment to use with a slide hammer, to yank the spindle off.

I snagged an additional spindle lock nut when I was at the boneyard.

Then ever so elegantly cut a piece of square tubing (this was laying around, and big enough for spindle to fit in). The inside diameter of the tube needs to bigger than the inside of the nut.

Homemade tools

dug through the coffee can of random nuts, and found a nut with the same thread as the end of the slide hammer

Homemade tools

cut a piece of plate to weld to the end of the tube

Homemade tools

burned it in.

Homemade tools

welded the nut into place.

Homemade tools

and welded the spindle nut to the other end.

Homemade tools

and here it is attached to the slide hammer.

will make things much easier in the teardown, and is just another cool little tool to have kicking around.
