so i sold my 89 probe gt, and found this on the local craigslist.

had the proper services. oil changed every 3,000, brakes just done, new front end parts, new tires. had 130,000 when i bought it and its clean as a wistle everywhere.

so its a 1998 explorer. 4.0 SOHC, 5r55e trans. 3:55 limited slip rear end.

only mods ive done were blacking out all the trim and grille, and putting on a thrush welded muffler, with the resonator delete.

lol, give it time.

nah just kdding. if it ever did need a motor and it was still in good shape, id stock a 5.0 in it.

but i have absolutely no plans of changing this engine.

drive it till it dies. i change the oil every 1,500 miles so itll last forever.

Changing oil that often will not make the engine last any longer. That's just a huge waste of money and oil. It will last just as long if you changed it every 5,000.

Really nice Explorer.

first of all thank you.

and im not turning this into an argument. so please dont take it that way.

but i have to disagree with you on that.

see. even though all oil companys say you can go 5,000 on said oil, i dont think so.

see, oil breaks down, and with the ton of stop and go traffic i do, the oil is going to wear out faster than someone who say does all highway driving.

for the 30.00 it is for an oil change. i do one every 3 months. thats not a big deal to me.

i run quaker state 5w30 and a k&n oil filter.

now, it may ne me just being over protective, but i dont care.

im obviously not doing any damage always running clean oil in it.

with my vehicle history, its just cheap insurance against sludge buildup

but anyway, like i said, im not arguing, and in no way am i questioning you know how.

you do it how you like.

but again, thanks for the compliments.

As much as i like the 1gen i've been wanting to buy on of those and lifting the whole works never seen done to those 2nd gens before.
