AJE Ranger K-Member Who's Done It!?

Air chisel works great and fairly quick. Plus it’ll vibrate all the rust off the frame :p

What’s your plans with this build?

Most of it is done. 4 link, 2980 w camper shell and me in it. Dead hook a 5.3 with a GT45 and torment the late models. Geezer version of fun.

It's my last project; I'm getting a bit old for crawling on the ground and fabricating- my last street "project" went 8.80s back in 2006. I'm okay with just being faster than most of the normal crowd. This truck won't be "fast".

I'll get the front suspension sorted, finish the engine assembly, wire it, tune it and wait for an unsuspecting Charger to show at the local hangout.

I built this truck in honor of the original owner, my Grandfather. He served on CV10 (Yorktown) in WWII. When he passed, he left it to me. Thus the 5 year project.

Sounds awesome. Cool the truck has a story with it. I’d love to see the 4link. I’m not too far off from doing that in mine

What's the sizing on that whistlin' air forcifier of yours?

If you're asking me? Standard chinese GT45- 69 trim, 1.06 a/r turbine. I'm not planning on running enough boost or turning rpm to justify anything else. It'll make 600 atw at about 8-9 psi on 93 with the heads and valvetrain I'm using (Wilkes Performance cnc'd 799s and ~230/235 HR camshaft). That's plenty for me for a weekend everyday driver.

Either of you works lol thanks.

But right on. I'm trying to figure out what size I want to go with right now.. but I'll be running twins so apples/oranges.

Gonna be a bone stock 4.8 in a majority dragstrip use car, trans is rated for 900hp so I'd LIKE to end up with 7-800 but obviously being bone stock I'm going to be limited by my heads/cam.

Once I get the car running on whatever setup I end up with the plan is to start amassing parts to build an aluminum block flat plane crank 4.8.. might have to be a 5.3 though.

I’m really no expert, this is my first full build and my first attempt at a LS turbo but I’ve read a ton and Richard Holdener has put out so much info I feel like one lol. For that power goal I would stick with a single. I’m only looking for 450-500whp and the s366 is good for about 650. A VS78/75 would get you there.

I finished my intercooler pipping today. Also put together the TB elbow. I just have to connect the crossover to the passenger manifold and the turbo kit is done. Well I guess I need to attach the BOV too.

I'm going twins out of laziness lol.. gonna be way easier to fit twins under the hood of that car than a big enough single. Plus... more cool points 😆

That engine bay is looking awesome. Did you plumb the wastegate dump back into the downpipe for inspection purposes?

Im doing a daily driver type of build. I want the truck to be somewhat quiet. The downpipe is 3.5” going into 3” exhaust with a Borla muffler. Not going to help HP at all but for the power im after it shouldn’t be an issue.

You might be leaving a little bit on the table by necking down to 3", but probably not much. 3" pipe isn't a true bottleneck restriction until you get into 4 digit power numbers for the most part.

Richard holdener is like... way too smiley lol.
