Hey Howdy,

I have a 1999 3.0L Ranger with the V code in the VIN. I am thinking this is the Flex code. Among many fixes I bought injectors from FleaBay that looking back at the purchase - I am thinking they are gas injectors.

Idles rough, crap acceleration when cold, long term trims are 25, I have battery drained the PCM several times. I have Lean codes both banks. Given that you name it, I have checked it or fixed it....Do I just need to change to Flex injectors? It is not clear to me when I look at OEM sites for parts which injectors are which. I got some 'OEM PN' from RockAuto, but they do not match with the Ford OEM part sites.

Injector recommendations? I do not want to pay $60ea.

Thanks!
Nick

I picked up this POS in the fall last year. Just for background many things fixed:
-Plugs & Coil
-Upper and lower intake gaskets
-Was three different types of injectors - replaced
-All possible Vacuum leak stuff:
-PCV and hose, EGR Check, Evap hose,
-Brake booster (was bad)
-MAS, IAC, Intake plenum, O2
Also, I looked in the case of the PCU and nothing burned or broken.

Did your fleabay injectors come from a company with an easily recognizable name that also has a reputation for making quality parts like Bosch, denso, delphi.. orrrrrr was the manufacturer name closer to MeiSoHuard or TuTuPupu?

Are you running "regular" fuel from the pump (e10/15) or are you actually running "flex fuel"?

What's your scanner say your injector duty cycle is while going WOT down the road?

Injectors aren't something to cheap out on. If "real" injectors cost 60 bucks... Well... Then that's just the cost of repair 🤷🏻‍♀️.

LOL - Thanks for the reply.
Regular gas e10 I believe.
I will check the scanner (What's your scanner say your injector duty cycle is while going WOT down the road?)
Any thoughts on the dif in injectors? I do assume that they are cheep, but functional.
Thanks again.

Well.. my ranger doesn't currently run lol so I couldn't say what I'm looking at for duty cycle BUT.. there's no way I'd be running 10$ a piece eBay injectors in.. well.. anything lol.

I found a set of reman'd DENSO injectors, flex fuel, from a seller called BIG DAWG DIESEL AND SURPLUS (eBay).. currently 190$ with a coupon code.. free shipping. Yeah.. way more than 60 bucks but... They're from a brand that anyone can have confidence in..

I still don't think injectors are causing your lean codes though. Just out of curiosity.. what brand are your o2s? Cheap o2's are generally garbage.. and Ford's reeeeally appreciate having motorcraft (or equivalent) sensors in them. I *believe* NTK was still Ford's choice of manufacturer to make their o2s when your truck was made.. so those would ideally be the ones to have in it.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use Bosch o2 sensors either, but there’s also a lot of fakes on the market so make sure who you buy from and on Amazon watch for the “fulfilled by Amazon” tag because that’s resulted in a random mix of legit and fakes… What a frickin world this is that the market is flooded with counterfeits and fakes of auto parts… but that’s another story…
