My 94 Mazda B3000 has been taking longer to start like it is not getting gas but today it started quick like it usually does. It only does this from a cold start. It might be because it was cold out but it has been in the 30s before and it has started fine.

Any thoughts?

My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
My 94 3.0L does the same thing but mine is caused by a random skip. Sometimes I wish this year had the OBD II system in it that tells you which cylinder is misfiring. Does yours have a skip?

Is it cranking slower or just not firing up quickly?

I don’t think mine has a skip. It is steady on the turn over of the engine and when it fires up it stays running.

Im not sure if the older trucks do this but try turning the key to run (not start) for a couple seconds then back off, then repeat 2 or 3 times before actually trying to start it. This will prime the fuel pump to build pressure. If this works you probably have a leaking injector(s) which means the system looses pressure and will take longer to start since it needs extra time to get the fuel pressure back up.

I will try it out.

This is what I was thinking too. See if priming it helps it start on cold starts. If so then you may have a leak or the beginnings of a leak. Do you smell gas whenever you are going to your truck?

So it started doing it again and it even started up one time and then instantly died. So I am looking at replacing the injectors fuel pump and fuel filter. What fuel injectors should I go with? I was thinking about going with ACCEL. And what brand fuel pump should I go with?

Just Motorcraft everything. Maybe Bosch the injectors.

stick with recommended factory replacement injectors

a lot of those accel injectors have significantly different offsets (solenoid dead time from when its get powered up before the injector actually starts spraying fuel) and it can cause some fueling issues sometimes

I would suspect your fuel pump first though. The early signs of a fuel pump going out is extended cold starts. if you hadn't changed the filter recently i'd prob check there too just for good measure.

Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge I have one you can borrow. I would definitely check the pressure first. Mine does this on and off but my pressure bleeds of rapidly. I bought a brand new fuel pump 4 months ago but didn't put it in because it was hunting season :)
