More so my thoughts, less personal property tax, less insurance, pretty similar fuel to my ranger, no vehicle payment, more money into retirement and in an economy that's paying me more for a 4 yr older truck than when I bought it that is inevitably going to tank and fall into recession what is my better option.
This is the way. There's zero reason to sit on a $50k asset that's not being used when it's in super high demand and will only drop in value when the vehicle market stabilizes. Sell both the F250 and the Ranger. Buy an F150 that can do what you want and have no debt. Free up that monthly cash flow for better uses. Vehicles that rarely get used should be super cheap like your older F150, not $50k rotting away.

So the local dealer near my work made me an offer I could not refuse yesterday. Send them the build sheet on what I want, they will order it no money down. When it comes in I look at it they eval my trades at that time and if I don't like the deal I walk away no strings attached. So, lets play the waiting game. Do not see how I can go wrong with that...…

Ford has always been a family value type corporation, American as apple pie and motherhood. I should know. A family member is an exec there.

Many dealerships respect that same great tradition in the way that they do business. They are not at all crazy. They know that good will is what keeps us coming back. I'm also quite sure that new trucks are in demand right now. If you change your mind, they know they will sell your choice in a heartbeat.

All in all, it's a great deal made by a great dealership.

My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
With all the manufacturing, sales, clerical and legal costs, I don't get how they even make a profit.

We would qualify for the Ford family discount too. They are very generous, all except I'm very happy with my 19 year old Ranger. I wouldn't really worry about Ford. They make plenty.

So I found out as a Deere employee I qualify for the Ford partner X program so I'll get a little more savings.. looking more and more like I'll make the deal but all depends on market when the new truck is done.

Depending on if these gas prices stay up for a while, truck prices might go down a good bit near the end of the summer. When no one can afford to daily a loaded truck with gas at $5.00 a gallon.

I’m right there with you @Roert42 i started managing the mileage of 2 weeks ago and have managed to be able to up my overall average from 20.4 to 21.8 so I’m pretty happy with that. Again if new truck isn’t FREE on my end it’s not happening so we shall see. It’s not that I’m not happy with what I have at all.

On a good note the continued driving efforts with the Ranger have upped to 23.1 overall average. On a boat note with work trips I am nearing 50k sooner than wanted. I was hoping to keep it below if the trade happened but we will just have to see.

And it get's pushed out yet again. As I still have serious doubts of accepting it and trading my 2 in anyway but just updating as this does.

So funny thing.... 2 hours after I get this email I got another from another Ford dealer I had priced from. Apparently they ordered the same truck by accident and it came in and is ready.... 😂 I am not obligated to either but can get either. So they are working on #'s now. What are your thoughts... Thanks.

If it's still free, go for it. As per YOUR request - NO PAYMENTS. If this other dealership can match that, call the first dealer, that has you waiting, and let them know that you've gone another direction.

So dealer #1? the dealer that accidentally ordered the truck has given me $0 out the door trade for trade. Sight unseen of both of my trucks. Now I just need to decide...

Almost a no-brainer? A bird in the hand?
