My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I'll trade you my 97 Fun50 4.6l for your F250 straight up right now. We both get a different truck. No money involved.

Watcha think?

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
I'd keep the ranger, sell the 250 for some sort of heavy duty 80s truck that's decent enough and play with the money left over. Or make a big payment on the ranger.

In all seriousness thats not a bad idea.

Find a decent 87-97 F250HD/350 with a 460/5sp.

I would keep the 250. It’s got a lot going for it. I have a love for my 95 F-150, but there’s times that I kinda need a bigger truck. When I have a Ranger running, it handles 95% of the driving and I keep kicking around the idea of getting a car (Mazda 3 hatch) or a new Bronco to take the DD stress off my aging fleet. Either of those could handle say about 75% of my driving needs. The remainder I need a truck for, and that remainder is split between what I can use a Ranger for and what I need a bigger truck for. I don’t particularly want to get rid of my F-150, but once I have the dump truck running again, I won’t really need the 150. The dump will spend the majority of its time sitting because 8 mpg hurts a little. But I have property I‘m working on and the dump will be far more useful than anything else for that project. It’s paid off and I won’t mind it sitting around.

Not entirely sure what I’m gonna do with my fleet. I don’t really want to get rid of anything, but from a practical standpoint I really only need the dump, my green Ranger, my choptop and a commuter. Kinda wish I would have got the 250 extended cab long bed 4x4 diesel that I was considering when I got the 150 and I have kicked around the idea of getting a crew cab 250 diesel for a tow pig, but at this point I’d probably be better served by a smaller RV that I can tow a trail rig behind

-sell f250

-buy older HD truck for 10-12k for heavy hauling

-pay off loan on ranger

-still have 15k cash.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
I would keep both and get a beater F150 or any 1/2 ton for less than
$10k. Or a least keep the F250. your hate for putting miles on it means it will hold value, and is valuable to you. My Ranger I will never sell, but am considering trading my F150 for a 3/4 ton, maybe even a diesel. Or maybe you should consider a 4 door car? My fusion sits a lot, but costs nothing to own and sure comes in handy sometimes

The RV for the trail rig makes a lot of sense for sure. Just a lot to maintain and they do not like the outdoors. That autotrader price is what made my mind start wondering, mine is a gasser but all the ones I see for sale are 40+ with 3+ times the miles...

Better to have more truck than you need than not enough

According to KBB....

72142

If they hit me with a number that high I would have to let it go..... I paid 36 for it in 18. That would be a 15-20k profit I think I would be dumb for passing that up... Guess we will see what they offer..

You can always make/save/borrow money, but could you replace those trucks? Even if you had a million dollars, it would still be difficult to find another F250 of that year in such good condition. Which is why it would also sell like a hotcake. Heck I'd buy it.
