Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
At this point, I would just pull the trans with the engine.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
I have 4.0 OHV and 5 speed. The very top bellhousing bolts I jack up the trans and access them from under the hood.

If I remember right the trany line has a bracket with one bolt on the side of the block that has to come out if you didn't get it out already. I had a similar problem till I found out I didn't remove that bolt but I did have some separation of engine and trans. Just a thought.

Remove the transmission crossmember and place an expensive item underneath the trans, like your cell phone.

The transmission will fall right out.

What did you use as a source of heat around the dowel pins?

aluminum & steel don't like each other, fit them together (one inside the other) they will corrode, did you use an acetylene torch or a mapp gas kit to heat the area?

Hello, I have a 1994 Ford Ranger, 4.0L OHV, Automatic, 4WD, Vin code X
Truck recently overheated, Coolant problems (all gummed up) Barely runs, blows white smoke cloud, Milky Oil. Def, blown head gasket, or warped Manifold, worse case cracked block. Anyway, decided to replace Motor. I already have the replacement. Exact match. Disassembled all wiring, accesories, ect. Hooked up to Cherry picker, wont separate from Trans. It is thourougly STUCK.
NEED HELP!
Removed all 6 Bell housing bolts from trans to motor.
Removed Starter
Removed all 4 Nuts from Torque Converter to Flex Plate
Supported Trans with jack, lifted Motor, wont separate?
Apparently it is stuck on the 2 Alignment Dowels. I have sprayed with PB blaster, I have tried gently prying on flew plate as I turn it to loosen, I have heated the Dowel Pin area, I cant really get anything in anywhere to pry. Its been married for 27 years to eachother. I have pics and video of what I am up against and what Ive tried.
If anyone has ran into this problem on an older ranger, please let me know what to do. I would have had this motor out 2 weekends ago, if it would have just separated!
*****UPDATE***** - ENGINE IS OUT!!!!!!
So I feel like an Ass. I want to thank everyone for their Help and support on this Journey. I Came home from work today, started prying and shaking everything trying to get this to Separate. My Dad walked over and asked how it was going and I said same shit, but then the light was shining just right and as I stood there talking I saw another bolt? Sure enough, and one to match on the opposite side. WTH? I could never get a definite answer from anyone on how many bolts held the trans to the engine from forums, online, or from the Ford Dealer. I got alot of different answers and I was sure their were only 6. But let me tell everyone following this thread or needs to know for sure, on a 1994 Ranger - 4.0L, Auto, 4WD, OHV Their are 8 bolts that hold it together.
Once I removed the two bolts I found, it immediately and with very little effort separated. The pass side was stuck on the dowel pin but with very little effort I pryed it apart with ease. Lifted it up and out in very little time.
This is one happy Guy tonight!
Thanks again for everyone help and input!!!!
