Well starting my swap,

Starting out with a 86 B2 Frame and a 87 Ranger cab. I have a 1.5" Body Lift. My core support is also narrowed 10"s.

I have the 4.0L out, and was test fitting the 5.8L tonight. I have the duff motor mounts. It looks right now i can clear the stock oil pan (1996 F250 2wd).

Plan right now is to use a c6 and BW1356. But that might change to a ZF if funds allow. This whole swap will be done as CHEAP as possible re-using as many parts as possible.

Any updates on this? I'd love to see more pictures. I'm looking at doing a very similar swap.

I have the motor sitting in the frame as low as possible with just enough clearance to keep the manifold off the steering shaft and it puts the right manifold directly above the frame with no way to connect it to the y-pipe. Furthermore way to much of the firewall in the way to even try and connect the trans to the block.

I wanna build an RV that is a diesel electric tracked vehicle, 36' long and 7' wide that is three 12' pods hooked together and can be driven from either end............. and can also sustain 75 mph on the freeway.

Okay just got off the phone with a guy I know who had a 351 in his first gen explorer..needless to say it was pretty enlighting.

I have the wrong pass manifold, I need to remake my mounts slightly with the crossmember. So I have the weekend off and plan to either gain serious ground on the truggy or make the call and start a new project truggy but full size.

Be sure to take lots of pictures of your mounts, etc. I'd like to see them. They'd be a huge help to me. :icon_hornsup:

Here is a phrase you should learn the meaning of:

"Fenderwell Headers"

On a V8 engined RBV based "buggy" I see no purpose to keeping the
exhaust inside the frame rails...

But if you must run it to a Y-pipe Have you looked at 5.8 Lightning manifolds?
They are JBA style shorty headers that hug the block more tightly

I wouldn't want them out side the frame as my 40" LTB's would melt at stuff lol.

Why don't you just buy a set of block hugger shortys and flip em upside down ? Run the tailpipe up over the cab roof. You can mount a muffler on the roof if you like. This is how the exhaust is run on logging equipment. Which by the way your "thing" ? (what exactly is this vehicle anyway? :icon_confused: ) looks similar to.

Nope, the project is getting terminated. My frame is twisted up like a pretzel under the cab...Got an offer for the cab and cage I can't refuse. I have a solid 96 F250 2wd I think I am gonna build a new truggy out of. I also picked up a pretty decent 87 B2 last nite off Craigslist.

Its was an 86 B2 frame and a 87 Ext. Cab ranger cab.
