So you know more because you watched a commercial? :icon_confused:
Obviously, DUH! He also seen it on Facebook ahahahaha
Technology moves on guys. So in order to keep current, reading helps.

Have you adjusted the bands on your planetary transmission this week? Just take the cover off the hogs head.

But to be clear, I change oil based on miles driven, not what the oil life monitor specifies. I'm planning to change the oil at 4,000 miles for the first change, then monitor the oil condition thereafter to see how well the Mobil 1 annual protection holds up.

The truck currently has just over 3.400 miles, and the oil still looks translucent on the dip stick, not coal black like I've been told other turbo motor oil ends up looking.

I was hoping to go 8,000 miles between changes, like I did on my '02 Tacoma. Based on what I'm seeing, that's not going to happen.

Nothing brings out opinions like an oil question.

Wanna talk about idle time... This is a 2017 F250 at work. It comes in about every 7000 miles for an oil change.

It was like that when I found it.
If sitting in traffic counts as idling then I probably win. Yay me!

You’re not beating a 2-1/2 year old truck with 1900 hrs of idle time by sitting in traffic. 1900 takes dedication... and someone else paying the fuel bill.

I'm payin for my gas so I win.

I calculate >1100 hours in 2.5 years and I've been doing it for 18 years. Damn I'm stupid...

From Ford shop manual, 2019 Ranger:

The IPC provides message center messages to inform the driver about the engine oil life status and when an engine oil change is required. The duration of the interval between engine oil changes is calculated in the PCM and varies due to driving conditions. The PCM assumes a base mileage of 16,090 km (10,000 mi) or 1 year for normal driving. However, this number is adjusted down for conditions such as high engine temperature, high engine rpm, use of flex fuel and possibly low engine oil level. The PCM calculates and provides the engine oil life percent message to the IPC. The engine oil change minder can be reset at any time by the driver.

I change mine every 5k, and that's just because I believe in rotating the tires at 5k intervals. If it weren't for the tires I'd be going to 7k.

My 2019 i got it in March and it's what 9 months old . I bought the three year oil change, i called about a oil change other day and they say they won't change it till 5,000 miles . I only have 643 miles on it . What about the age of the oil.

I work in fuel tanks for a living. Don't judge me!
A lot of people, including dealers don’t view age as an issue to consider. Only us weirdos that do preventative maintenance think of such things.

Did the oil change/tire rotation today--first change at 2k miles, second/todays, at 6k (4000 miles)--looking at the oil condition, I have to say, it was ready for the change--wasn't overly dark, but certainly wasn't clean either--oil change interval on the truck, said 50% remaining--not sure if I would agree with this "estimate"--next change at 11k (5000 miles)--may just stay at the 4k interval.

What oil did you put in your truck at 2,000 miles?
