I got that phone call as well. Money is an issue at the moment. If I can drum up the money, I'll buy one for sure. Assuming they are still available then. I saved the message just in case they never post it as available online. Since I want to re-gear the axles as well, this might be a long term parts accumulation project. I want all the parts on hand to do the front and back all in one shot.

@pjtoledo - Justin (@85_Ranger4x4 ) pointed out the obvious bit that I was missing. Does the C ring just lock the axle shafts in securely enough to guarantee that the axle can telescope in and out correctly without the inner shaft sliding out of the carrier?

basically, yes.
since the tri-lobe inner CVs take all the telescoping action the snap rings do indeed just keep the inner shaft in place, and the tri-lobe attached to that shaft.
same thing on the driver side, the ring keeps the tri-lobe in the diff.
