I think 4.0B2 hit the nail on the head, get rid of the 4.10's. You could get a 3.45 with the 7.5" which should still be enough to get you going, plus your engine won't be screaming at highway speeds.

what size tires do you have?
somethings wrong.... does your TC lockup? do you have OD at all?
at 75 with 205/75/15 tire size.. you should do 70 at a little less than 3000 rpms..

here, go here.. fill it in, look at the numbers

I've had my 86 2wd 5-speed 2.9 up to 109...had gps on to tell me how fast i was going lol. I'm not sure what gearing is in my rear but I know it's from an 88 4x4 ranger, it runs like a raped ape lol. and bump i guess lol

I had a ranger just like yours before i got my current ranger and it sucked speed wise. IMHO a 2.9 should never have an automatic behind it, because my current ranger is a 4x4 5 speed with 30" mud grips and 3:73 gears and i have had it up to 110 at 4200 rpms. i cruise down the interstate at 70 turning about 2800 to 3000 RPM's no problem. Just my $0.02 worth

It has 31s. I had it on the interstate at 70-75 at 3000 rpms but i think it would go if it had a 5 speed. How much would it cost to swap in a 5 speed and would it be a straight swap?

Gears. I had a 95 2wd with 32's, the 4-banger and 4.88 gears and it would run up to the governor in 5th somewhere around 90 - 95.

If you can find one, A Merkur Scorpio, our rangers 2.9L was used in that also, it has a different intake plenum setup.

What gears do you have, and why did you put 5.0 injectors in it? It accomplishes nothing. In fact if they are rated for higher lb/per hour than stock you're only going to make the engine run like crap.
