Got these NOS touch halos on the way. I think I can key MY glove compartment lock cylinder to these.
I'll deal w/the trunk & GC cylinders in the future.

Did an oil change on the '97, of course I dropped the oil filter pliers in the drain pan before the filter was able to be taken off by hand...

I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to happen. I do it on a regular basis.

Afterthought: the phenomenon is directly proportional to the temperature of the oil you’re draining. If you’re draining cold oil from a truck that’s been sitting, it will almost never fall. If you park the truck after highway speeds, and the oil is as hot as the center of hell, they’ll drop every time.

I usually drop the filter. And I can tell you without a doubt. The filter on a 7.3l powerstroke makes a bigger sploosh than your funny little pliers.

I know that all too well, those FL1995 filters are huge... on my 7.3L conveniently there is just enough clearance for a 5 gallon steel bucket that I cut the top off of (from paint solvent at work) to use that as a drain pan, I learned the hard way that no other pan that I have is capable of the 14? quarts the dang thing holds...

Yesterday I meant to take the '97 Ranger out of "summer mode" by pulling the intake temp resistor I put in so I don't have spark happening after TDC when it's hot... so did that this morning, now it knows the actual temperature instead of thinking it's always 80F...

I know the '99 Ranger has a dead battery and needs at least a little attention to the brake system. First step is to get working on it is making it start and run. So broke out the weedeater, cleaned up around the truck and hooked up the battery charger.

Way it acted I'm not confident the battery is still good, charged for a couple of minutes then switched to maintain mode. Manually set it to the 2 amp charge mode and letting it charge overnight, I'll see how that faired tomorrow.

Even if the battery is bad now, it still had a drain prior, so I'll try to isolate what is causing causing it and at least get that disconnected this week. Once I've got it running, I'll get started diagnosing the brakes, maybe next week of something else doesn't need my attention instead.

Please clue me in on what you're talking about there...

Part of a courtesy light system. Keyhole lights up momentarily when bezel area is touched. I should be able to tie it in to my dome light as well.
