What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

So, I’ve thought of those, the problem is that they don’t flow the gear oil correctly. You need a cover that is similar to a stock one on the inside or it doesn’t flow the oil right. Not usually the end of the world on a crawler, but a potential problem for something that sees highway speeds regularly

I had heard of that before, but wasn't aware it was a problem for the RuffStuff one. Now I wonder if anyone makes something compatible or if I'd be better off doubling up. Stock cover inside a thick plate like that. With a hole drilled in the bottom of the stock cover to allow the drain to still work.

I saw a video awhile back, think it was Yukon or someone and they did clear plastic covers in the common shapes and showed ones foaming oil and starving bearings and stuff. Was a real eye-opener for me of what goes on in there

Drove it yesterday for the first time in about a month. put a good 50 miles or so on it. Drove it to work again today

@SenorNoob

Found it, Banks has some stuff on the fluid dynamics of covers…

There’s some other videos too

Got an alignment done today in preparation for the Christmas trip. As I suspected, the Ranger was toed-out a little bit, but it had had the same alignment for 20,000+ miles and was still in spec about 6–7 months ago.

I hate how many locales have manhole covers below pavement surfaces so that hitting one is like hitting a pothole. Very common in some areas here.

After fixing the negative battery terminal and the vapor recovery line connector on the tank, it lives! I would like to thank @JJMaine for the fuel pump. The aftermarket pump will sit in storage "just in case" since it is past the 30 day return window and I used the seal that came with the pump. No one local had a seal in stock. So, I'll eventually get a replacement seal for it.

The bed is back on and most everything is connected. I just need to rewire the crossover for the logic module but until the cap is back on the truck, it isn't needed immediately. I did discover the high brake light bulb is burnt out. So, when I go to get the stuff for the cross over, I'll get a replacement bulb for it. Also, I don't know what the heck the cap installer did to the tail light connectors. Every latch was broken or busted. So, I guess I'll have to look for some pigtails at a junkyard to fix those at some point. The important thing is, it is now drive-able. I just need to get the Escape back together so it can stop blocking the driveway.
