What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

well when it warms up to near 10 degrees this afternoon, I will give the prime it method a try.

I do need to do a transmission fluid change, so that is something to think about. got the filter, now I need the fluid. what does a shift kit cost?

AJ
For fluid, the red bottle Valvoline Maxlife is the correct and cheapest way to buy it, if I mind right. Mercon V is expensive and I’ve never found it in bulk other than that stuff. I’d buy a dang 5 gallon bucket if I could.

Transmissionpartsusa has the Transgo shift kit for about $62. O rings and gasket for the reverse servo plus the valve body gasket set is like $10. Apparently they don’t have the one-piece separator plate anymore.

well... today i tried the prime it method and it still took a little longer (not much) to catch and it stumbled and died as soon as I let off the key. started it back up again and it fired off right away. let it warm up in the driveway, locked the hubs in because the roads are for crap here. shoveled the drive while it warmed up. then drove it out on the town, and at a stop light the engine died. started right up again. but it felt like it had a big enough miss that it died. did it again 10 min later at another light.

At this point I am not sure if it is a fuel related issue or an electrical/ spark related issue. when it warms up I will dig deeper...
