What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Oil change and put a new air filter in. All the Purolator stuff is dirt cheap at advanced auto because they stopped carrying it.
Not sure on the Purolator oil filters... but the Motorcraft oil filters have an anti drain back valve. I think it's a pretty big deal with the 4.0L SOHC. You don't want drain back...chain tensioners need oil quick.

I had no idea what that was, i googled it and apparently the Purolator boss filters have that. Good to know to look for that if i ever switch it up.

Well, not as much progress as hoped, but progress was made…

Trans crossmember is about 75% done for the Choptop. I had hoped on done and installed, but things took longer than expected. Is what it is. I now have another set of 6-ton jack stands and I’ve discovered that Diablo grinding disks are well worth the price of admission.

Standby, tomorrow we start tearing things apart, lol

So, it was a long day and progress was made. If I can pull off another long day tomorrow, I should have the pinion angle fixed in the Choptop. Today I got the transmission crossmember done enough to install and installed. I’d kind of like to do a couple other things to the crossmember, but it’s in there and as is it will do better than what janky stuff I had in there before… that lasted probably 15 years, lol.

New leaf spring perches are sitting on my bench ready to go sans centering pin hole. I have it center punched, I just didn’t get around to finding out what size I needed to drill before it got dark and I really didn’t feel like figuring it out by flashlight. Sounds like tomorrow’s problem at this point. Easy enough to drill out quick.
