What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I still consider myself a "Ford Guy", Maybe my next NEW vehicle will be a Ranger or Maverick
what did you get? a frontier or a titan?

i had both and liked them. i had an 01 frontier that i loved but god dang did that little 3.3 get bad gas mileage. super easy to work on though.

the titan was a 17 texas titan that awesome too but it was in the shop at least twice a year the whole time i had it so when the warranty was about to end, we decided it wasn't worth chancing that it would stay out of the shop from then on. AND, it too got fairly bad gas mileage. generally 12/13 in town but it is a full time old school v8 that made 395hp and 400 pounds of torque so guess its ok mileage. i just didn't like it.

The only thing that I don’t like about the ones HF sells is they paint or powedercoat them and it’s something that needs to be welded in so you have to strip all of that off. I’ve been buying Gen Y stuff for hitches because you can get it bare steel, much easier to weld.

I just need a piece of 2.5” square or rectangle tube with a 1/4” wall for what I’m doing, so I can probably get what I need that price or cheaper in bare steel, I can see if the one guy I know has a chunk or I can see about getting a “drop” from one of the steel suppliers.
I have a chunck of 2x rectangle tune that might work. I'll have to remember to grab it out of the scrap pile and measure the wall thickness. I need to double check on if it is really 2x as well. I think it is.

How long does the piece need to be? I'll need to check that too.

I need about 10-12” of 2.5” square tube with 1/4” wall

I looked at my Ranger today and cried.

That I did to my Ranger today.

I get that, mine has been on jackstands for like 6 months now. I told everyone I was taking two weeks to work on it and instead have been doing everything but working on it because life has given me a good swift kick lately…:buttkick::black_eye:

@lil_Blue_Ford I can understand that.

My good swift kick in the a$$ is my own doings.

I got no money to work on my truck because I've been trying to just do odd jobs for people and I don't have enough people putting me to work for them for me to really make any money.

If I would just swallow my pride and get a real job ( And I mean any job. ) instead of being stubborn headed trying to make a living when I don't have enough customers, I'd be better off.

Started making a fan shroud for the rear mount radiator today

Technically mine is a lot of my own doing because I’ve said I’d help people when I should have said I can help you but not until after I fix mine. It’s hard to say no sometimes. Some of what life has had for me lately I’ve had absolutely zero control over. Is what it is.

I’ve done the odd jobs before. It’s not even a matter of feast or famine. Unless you’re a really smooth talker or something, it seems like you always end up chasing work that doesn’t pay enough if you try to be a decent and helpful person. Regular jobs often have their own downsides too. Usually revolving around being chronically shorthanded and management typically having their heads firmly up their posterior.
