What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Big hold-up is trying to mount my bench vice, apparently Tractor Supply doesn’t carry fine thread bolts.

I am so over TSC. I went in there a couple weeks ago to get a seal kit for the drink on our stock tank. I ask where the stock tank parts are because I couldn't find them. "our tank stuff is back there"

And that was the weed sprayer tanks. :annoyed:

It was just announced we are getting a Bomgaars last week, I can't wait.

We have a Family, Farm, and Home close by that I go to now instead of Tractor Supply. I like them better than TSC anyway and they are 30-40 minutes away instead of 10.

There’s 4 TSCs within 30 minutes of me and two of the three I often drive past, but I think they’ve stopped carrying a lot of stuff that they used to. Rural King is like 15-20 minutes away but I don’t usually travel past it. Way better selection than TSC though. On everything.

When I was leaving empty handed one of the people that work there asked me if I needed help finding anything. I said no because apparently y’all don’t sell fine thread bolts anymore and I got a look like they hear this a lot…

We used to have Orchelen's, TSC bought them out. They were not bad, had most of everything a guy could need to get something to work, maybe not ideal but they could get you by.

What is really sad is what they did to the Orchelen's the next town over. They had remodeled an old Walmart, it was one of the biggest locations they had. Had a huge sporting goods section, blinds ammo, gun counter, fishing stuff everything. It was awesome. Huge tool department too and several aisles of toys.

TSC has them set up the same as every other TSC now but with 10' wide aisles to make up the difference in floor space vs the size of their average building. Off season sporting goods is now the usual aisle of bb/pellet guns and no toys.

It’s not going to help any of you guys, but if there is anyone around Atlanta, we have Howard Brothers’s Hardware. Three or four locations in the north east corner of the metro area.

I don’t know about any “rural“ equipment or supplies, but in general hardware, they have about anything you’d ever want.

The 04 ranger is still being borrowed by my buddy since his car gor totalled by this company truck.

The 24 took me to the va clinic and back this morning for sick call attendance

That’s a shame. Sounds like what the one Dunham’s sporting goods store did around here, they bought an old Dick’s sporting goods store and instead of carrying a larger quantity of stuff or more variety they just spread everything out over a larger area. And their hunting/fishing license computer is usually broken or nobody that knows how to use it is working.

TSC used to be pretty decent, but it seems like they’ve gone downhill in the past few years.

RK took over an anchor store at the local mall that’s pretty big. When they first opened the place was huge and they actually had a couple farm tractors parked inside. Now they have the store absolutely crammed with stuff and take up a huge section of the parking lot with all the stuff they can keep outside. The owner of the mall supposedly complained about that and RK supposedly said, fine, we will buy our own property and build our own store then and the owner backed down because it’s about the only store keeping that mall afloat anymore…

TSC used to actually sell like rebuild kits for tractors etc...

Not today but 2 day ago installed new front brake pads replaced a disc rotor and wheel bearing on one side lubed the rear caliper glide pins.

I haven't been impressed with Dunham's but being they were the only game in town after REI moved into Pittsburgh, I just delt with what they had to offer. Now that Sportsman's Warehouse opened a location in Robertson Twp, I haven't been there and I don't make the trek to Cabela's unless they have something I really want.

Rural King in the Beaver Valley Mall did the same thing. They are ok but generally not in the direction I travel. Most of the stuff I want that they sell is offered by other locations more convenient and some of them are mom and pop retailers. I'd rather give them my money anyway over a bog box store.

Pulled a tree branch down and washed it for a car show Saturday.

making a half a$$ed attempt to find the coolant disappearing act. If I drive it for 45 minutes (Anderson to Fishers or Noblesville) I will lose 4 to 5 inches of coolant from the radiator. no noticeable leaks. no puddles on the driveway after driving. so I figure maybe the radiator cap is weak. new radiator cap didn't really change things. Also noticed that the level in the reservoir never changed. so while the radiator might be down a few inches, the reservoir still was at full cold.

decided that the 28 year old rubber line from the radiator cap to the reservoir might be the culprit. unhooked it and snaked it down to the underside so that the reservoir could drain into a cup. got maybe a few teaspoons. yanked the hose off the reservoir itself and it drained just fine all over my driveway. washed the coolant off the driveway and went and got a new hose. so for 15 bucks for a radiator cap and 13 bucks for 3 foot of hose, I hope that is the issue.

it was getting dark, so it is now back together and I will see tomorrow if the problem is gone.

I don’t understand why you would bring a Branch to a car show. But I guess if you got a break one, it should be washed.

You beat me to it.
