The Deuce

Oh and did I mention my weird clutch safety switch problem? Ok so after we finish the pump fix, I jump in to start it right, when I push the clutch pedal in the starter engaged. I was like wtf? Every time I pushed the clutch pedal the starter would turn, acting like the clutch safety switch was now my starter button. Didn't matter if the key was on or off either, mind you with the key on it would start and run, with the key off it would just turn over, no start. We messed around for a couple hours trying to figure out why when all of a sudden it stopped doing it. So now I have a gremlin in there that may pop up again one day.....fawker.

I am using an auto trans ecm and harness on this thing with the fm146 manual trans and my factory BII clutch safety switch wires I ran into the auto trans harness park/neutral wiring. Has worked flawlessly for the last 6 years and suddenly it does this but for only a couple hours then goes back to normal...........wtf? I have young kids so the clutch safety switch is a must have too, as I briefly thought about deleting it. LOL Turned out to not be the switch tho, when I crossed the terminals at the trans harness it did the same thing and tried to start the engine. No clue why or how the starter circuit can be energised by the clutch safety switch tho ?????

Progress!!!!!!!!

I now have an operational sway bar with home made disconnects.

Repaired my Tire carrier and added a couple touches to it while I was at it. Added a Jack-all mount and an axe mount so now my carrier carries a tire an axe a shovel and my jack.

Also time for a u joint change as the front drive shaft was making some noise.

IMG-20110808-00047.jpg

Turns out I now have all 1310 joints in both my drive shafts!! This is a good thing.

Was changing ujoints and thought I would snap a couple comparison shots. Left to right: 1310 diff yoke d44, 297 d44 axle joint and a 1350 GMC double cardan joint.

She still needs some work but she is ready to go play now!!

Well the new camera is treating me well when I actually remember to take it along, lol, but the new camer phone works too only less quality, haha.

Went wheeling last night, Doc said to take it easy so I took it easy, lol.

man she was really in there. with all the rigging's on the rear look's like it took some force to free it up.

How did I miss this thread?? Damn that was deeper then you thought, I like those kind of mud holes.

Man, I love your rig.

That is a good looking rig!!

Thank you! :D

Yeah man it was way softer and deeper than it looked haha, I knew it was soft but once I got in it I knew I was done, lol. :headbang:

It kept stalling out the 8274 on buddies rig pulling me, first we had to tie his rig to another to keep it still and that was after he dug his 42's deep in the dirt to try and hold, then it stalled out the winch so we added a snatch block and it pulled me back a few feet before it stalled out again. Buddy pulling me wanted me to spin the tires to help free it but all that did was sink me further down and make the pull that much harder. So at that point we added a second snatch block for a triple line pull! It was in there so tight that it almost stalled out the winch again. This time tho I suggested I leave the Bronco in neutral so the tires can try and roll up onto the ground, it worked!

Yeah man there was huge pressure on parts, I could hear it going PING! SNAP! CRACKLE! TWANG! Made all kinds of nerve racking noises and all the while I'm praying my rear receiver I welded between the frame rails stayed in place and didn't become a projectile. It survived without a mark tho, all welds look good still. :D That was a serious test on my welding ability and I'm happy to say YAY! LOL. :icon_welder:

While extracting the Bronco we created a brake system leak somewhere. I washed it off but haven't looked under it yet. I believe it's the rear brakes as I still have brakes but the pedal goes almost all the way to the floor before stopping power happens, lol.

Took us just over 2 hours to free it up and several winch cool downs and shoveling and messing around, lol. WICKED trip tho, man I love wheeling!!

Here's a couple shots of buddies YJ on 33's that went thru before me. We knew it was soft once he tried it but man was it deep too. lol

Well, I got out again for another week day evening run into the darkness. Man do I ever need more lighting inside and out, need to add some rock lights and some super bright interior lights as well as some front, rear and side facing lights. Oh and my 130 amp alty needs to be swapped in as the 95 amp isn't cutting it at all. Where in the heck would a guy add a second battery in these BII's? I'm not keen on inside the vehicle but maybe underneath somewhere?

Started at the trail head which is just a few blocks from my house and has a little for every one from sand climbs and berms to technical spots to slippery slimy spots to very deep mud and technical mud wheeling.

Then we found the mud on our way to the Poo Trail.

IMG-20110817-00157.jpg

IMG-20110817-00156.jpg

Then it got dark and deep and the winch came out to play, buddy has vid of the first deep hole and possibly the second deep hole, I'll try and link it on here once he uploads it to youtube. These pics are of me in hole 3 of the Poo Trail and there were several more holes in sight after this one too.

And after some rev limiter action and winching I made it out of hole 3 down the Poo Trail.

IMG-20110817-00159.jpg

IMG-20110817-00162.jpg

Then instead of carrying on down the trail, we decided to head back the way we came as buddy with me had 35's on his Cherokee and had parked his rig and walked along as I winched and ripped through the first 3 holes. Figuring winching back through 3 very deep holes would suck ass I resorted to take the bypass's back to the start.

so what's the deal with the junked out b2 or ranger in one of those pics??

Just another beat down stripped abandoned vehicle, this time a ranger, we run across these all the time, people either to dumb to call the free steel pick up guys to haul it to the recyclers or they bought it to go beat the piss out of it and once it was dead they stripped what was good and left it. Engine trans and tcase were there as was front and rear diffs, its a first gen so it's a 7.5/d28 junk, manual 5sp and 1350 likely. Wasn't much use to me anyways, lol. Had such a pretty blue paint job too! haha

looking good buddy, i really like your b2

Thanks man, thank you very much!:D

Well on the way out of the bush that night I roll down the drivers window (power windows) and the window goes down to the bottom and never moved again, lol. I spent yesterday ripping out the power window junk and replacing it with manual window junk.:annoyed: At least I don't have to worry about the window motor any more, the passenger side died last year and I swapped it right around the time I built the half doors.

Have any of you done dual batteries in the BII? If so where have you put the second battery? I'm starting to consider cutting the rad support out completely and redoing it with tube and making room for 2 batteries there somewhere. Either that or mounting both batteries under the rig behind the tcase or above the rear diff or something. I like the idea of moving some weight to the back of the rig and down low but then I run into battery access problems such as boosting other rigs and such. :icon_confused:

Any ideas you guys have on dual batteries would be welcome.:icon_idea:

Plans are to buy a marine battery switch and then hook up both my blue top and red top Optimas to it. Red top for main use battery and blue top for winching and accessories battery.

The marine battery switch I can buy in town here has a key to lock it out as well.

4.0B2 is running a daul battery setup on his, hit him up and he may get you a few pics of his setup.

I'll be running on in the near future, I'll show you where I plan on running them once I'm back to my rig to snap some pics!
