Recently installed a Pioneer Dmh-1770nex and 4 Pioneer 6x8 speakers. Also did new AVS ventvisors and ordered a new third brake light off ebay. A guy has a bunch on new oem old stock for $39.99 or make offer, I offered $20 and they took it.
Guess I never did updated here, but I solved the P0455 code. Previous owner installed a fuel pump (well, his father-in-law) and for whatever reason, did not install a retaining ring gasket. Napa sells a kit with a new retaining ring and gasket for like $13. Been great every since.
Several updates, the P0455 code as well as P0457 code are back. Biting the bullet and installing a new vapor canister solenoid and charcoal canister as well as fuel inlet tube and hoses (tested the underhood purge valve, its good) Smoke test shows no leaks. Also had some vibrations from the front end. Slight wear on the front inside tires. The culprit? LCA's, which are the only suspension parts not replaced in my initial overhaul (although I did the ball joints on both). Just ordered 2 new Moog lca's.
Charcoal canister vapor filter and solenoid valve replaced. Seems to idle a couple hundred rpms lower, is there any correlation? New moog LCAs being delivered tomorrow and picking up a coil spring compressor with the "shoe". Hopefully I can make quick work of them Thursday morning on my off day. Been soaking everything (although its all under a year old except the lca bushings) with Seafoam deepcreep.
That is way too clean to be a kid’s first vehicle… But then again, something that nice “should” enduce better habits in regard to traffic awareness, road conditions, weather…
My foster daughter begged and pleaded for me to get “the cute little purple truck” back on the road. Ordered everything to fix the rear suspension, all new head/tail lights and led bulbs, complete clutch kit including pre-bled lines/cylinders… And then she was scared of the 5spd. At least it kept her away from my flat windshield Super Beetle. 5 years after she left, I’m finally getting around to fixing both up.
How far is your part of KS from Memphis? I have got to learn that level of CLEAN for my actual vintage trucks…
It was pretty clean when I bought it a couple years ago. I just added my OCD for clean vehicles to the mix. The price was the reason for buying it. $2800. Another $2000 in parts (some probably didn't need replaced) and its a under 5k first vehicle, which is more than acceptable in this day and age.
Heather’s ended up being my $300 (buddy deal) 1992 K1500 ecsb, complete with a 335rwhp 350. She was terrified behind the wheel of my wife’s 06 Pontiac Vibe. She was a cross of Mario, Mickey (Thompson, but Mouse would fit too) and Dale in that beater Chevy… And yes, she fubar’d the truck…
Getting ready to harvest the 350 for a Squarebody lowrider build. Transmission, t-case, rear axle, LCAs and frame are all pretty much destroyed. Can’t even open the driver side door enough to get in. She apparantly was playing “Dukes of Hazzard”, into a 3’ diameter tree… Only reason she walked away was the 6” structural I-beam front bumper.
