Okay, I've seen the picture of the STX straight tube bumper on Ford's pamphlet. I could not find any other photos of an STX bumper, does anyone have one? Here's the rear bumper that came with my rust bucket, it looks STX-inspired.

This roll bar came with it too, is it the STX or is it aftermarket? Could not find any Ford stamps on it, so I assume aftermarket..

Oh, and what's a good way to clean rust off of chrome?

Can I play with your basketball?

I had an 87 stx hi-rider for a parts truck. The rear tube bumper didn't have the same curve down in the center as yours, and was painted black. It didn't come with the roll bar but had the holes for one...was probably removed. The front bumper looked like any other but had a push (don't know the correct term) bar added, similar to aftermarket of the time.

Bumper is from some other brand of truck and the bed style bar is to high and came from a newer truck.

SoS pad is good for rust. Just be careful not to scrub the chrome off too.

I'd like to get an old Lund roll pan for my rig. I saw that Jim had one on his 83, looks good.

It's sad and deflated but why not :dunno:

Thanks for all the comments, I figured the bumper wasn't STX but good quality work by whoever did it. And knowing the roll bar isn't STX definitely makes me more inclined to sell it soon

WD40 and steel wool for rust removal, i did it to my bike rims ,as a kid. And if that kid can do it, any body with half a brain can do it.

That definitely appears to be a factory STX bar... I don't know if the design of it changed at all over the years, but it's the same as pictured in my 1996 Ford Ranger brochure.

Edit:
Looking at it further, it looks like maybe the main hoop was made slightly wider to better fit behind the later-year truck cab.

I like how it points out "not for passenger safety"

I now where an 89-91 is with tube bumpers in the front and back of the truck I gotta get some pictures of it. Maybe it was a factory thing.

Its just meant hold hold up offload lights, hence why its called a RALLY BAR and not a roll bar. They're basically made out of exhaust pipe lol.

Looks just like the one that came with my '91 STX factory (tube bumpers & rally bar are on the window sticker). Most people don't realize the extended cab trucks have a higher roof line than regular cabs & I'm sure ford made them 1 size fits all.

The main difference I've noticed in mine and in the brochures is that the front posts on my roll bar come straight down. The roll bars on the brochure curve out to protect the bedside

That's not the case here. There is indeed a difference between the first gen and second gen roll bars.
A quick google search for stock photos and you can tell the difference.

I had a factory stamped Ford roll bar for my ranger. It fit but looked like it didn't belong.

This is the best side styl factory STX pic I could find.
