Just saw this 98 ranger 4.0 on FB listed for 1800$. This is definitely the most miles I've seen on a 4.0. no info on if it was the original or not.

Crazy! Figured y'all would enjoy.

It’d be real interesting if it was the original engine. Holy smokes.
 
Buddy of mine put around 400k on his 3.0 before he replaced it with a Jasper engine.
The old 4.0 OHV was pretty much an anvil, the 4.0 SOHC not so much.

I've never heard of a recommended service interval of 70k.
I put 212k on the 4.0 in my old Sport Trac when it blew a head gasket but the timing chains were fine. Synthetic oil every 5k religiously since new though. Ran like new until the head gasket blew. Fix is the same, engine has to come out, so I traded it in on the Ranger I have now.
