Saginaw really that simple??

First post in a long time folks.....

........Anyway, on with the story. My progression with the Saginaw pump bracket was put on hold indefinitely when I sold my old Explorer with the only working prototype. I couldn't get my hands on another motor to work off of and the pulley alignment is what is crucial to make this mod work. Get one of the bends in the plate just one degree off and you will throw or shred a belt in a matter of seconds. I went through several getting it correct and because I made so many tweaks to get it correct, I don't have the final "settings" written down. I only had my rough measurements to go off of and that just wasn't good enough to make more brackets and risk getting a bad name sending out junk.

Fast forward to the present. I have recently purchased a 4x10 Torchmate table for my personal use. I am going to start manufacturing many new products that have been unavailable for our vehicles. I have spoken with the 17 yr old girl (yeah, yeah) that bought my old Explorer and I'm trying to buy it back from her. At the very least she has agreed to let me borrow it so I can take the Saginaw bracket off and reproduce it. I was just wondering if there was still any interest in this bracket? If so, please send me a PM. If there is enough interest, I will put together a group buy and contact Jim to set me up a vendor status. I will need one soon anyway because this isn't the only product I'm working on.
The Saginaw bracket will fit any GM style pump to your 4.0L OHV motor. The pump I used was a PSC hi flow pump used in the Early Bronco power steering conversion kit that is sold by JD. It is modeled after a truck canned ham type pump that is sold at any local parts store. The parts store pumps can be modified for hi pressure/hi flow by following the directions found on many threads on Pirate 4x4. The only thing that is critical for this mod is your power steering pump pulley. The hole in the middle will have to be enlarged to fit over the shaft of the Saginaw pump. I can have this done for you on an exchange basis or I can provide you the measurement and you can have a local shop do it for you.
So there you have it, I'll need to put together at least 10 people that want the bracket at the same time before I can do anything else. When I get that, I will contact Jim to get me a vendor status and set up the group buy. PM me for more info on this or any other products.

Brad.

I'm interested in a bracket for sure if I can't get my stock pump to work for my hydro assist.

I want "need" one. PM sent.

From what I can tell you are making a bracket to bolt on the 4.0 ohc so that we can use readily available aftermarket saginaw pumps to convert to hyrdo steering or assist steering? Count me in! What is the price you are looking at selling these for? Does anyone have a link for the pump this is designed to take?

It takes any gm saginaw pump..I think that what he said.

I have spoken with Jim about this so I'll go ahead and give more info. I edited my other post to correct the typo for the correct engine.

This bracket

is to mount any readily available GM Saginaw power steering pump to your factory steering box. It mounts in the factory location and even uses the factory belt. As you can see, you can retain factory A/C also.

We all know the Ford pumps suck. The Saginaw pumps have been swapped onto everything for years because they work well, can be rebuilt, and let's face it, you can get one at the junkyard for $10. O'reilly has them for $49 for reman with lifetime warranty.

I worked on this idea for quite some time because the other pumps are no longer manufactured. This bracket will put a new, quieter, more powerful pump into your factory location. You can run it stock or with a quick search on Pirate 4x4 you can turn it into a hi-flow, hi-pressure pump capable of running hydro assist or full hydraulic steering.
Right now I'm shooting for about $90 for the bracket by itself with a complete, turn key setup consisting of bracket, pump, pulley, and hose for around $225. This is a rough estimate and could go up or (hopefully) down. The more orders I can get at once, the better the prices will be. I'm shooting for 10 orders to get started. I've got 4 maybe 5. To go through with a group buy I'll need all 10 orders placed with cash up front.

PM me if you need more info.

Here, I done a quick search on the O'reilly website

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/s...7&make=Chevrolet&model=Monte+Carlo&vi=1419577

I searched a 87 Chevy Monte Carlo---you can put in just about anything, they all use the same pump. The only major difference is the reservoir shape.

Notice I have 2 different reservoirs. I used one pump for mockup and then switched to a working pump. I got mine from PSC as it was already modded for hi-pressure/hi-flow.

You get the exploder back from her?

Glad to see your back posting here again.

Is there any possibility of a bracket for a 2.9L bolt pattern to the engine?

OReilly's Pump for $37

SO I have had a Saginaw pump (with horseshoe bracket) that has been sitting in my basement since last year and I think I am ready to put it in the truck. Since it is used, I want to rebuild it before I install it. Is the above part what I need? If no, anyone know the right part number?
