Blower motor only works on high??

Tried searching and I can't find anyone with this problem. My blower motor only works with it is set to high. Every other setting does not work. I replaced the switch itself but thats not it. Any ideas?? Thanks

Look for the blower motor resistor. If you look right at the blower motor it will be at 5 o'clock on the heater core cover and has 2 or 3 wires plugged into it. 2 bolts hold it in place. Costs about $17.00. Older vehicles had high blower relays that would cause this problem but I'd put money on the resistor.

That's a resistor block problem.
It's right under the blower motor, two or three smalll screws hold it into the plenum.
The electrical connector sometimes corrodes, Ford stocks them and resistor blocks.
My 2000 needed a p/n 4L5Z-19A706-AA. Yours may be different. Cost $22 @ Ford.

Thanks for all the help! Now just have to get my speedometer working again....changed the sensor in the trans but no luck. There are a few threads here about it so I am going to search some more. Thanks again.

Not quite so...blower motor resistor or melted fan switch

FYI for future readers for this blower motor problem where only the highest setting on the fan works.

--I know this hasn't been touched on for awhile.
Unfortunately, if you go through all the trouble of taking out the resistor and replace it with a new one and it still doesn't work, your going to wind up back here.
I would first take apart your dash and look behind the switch and see if it is melted. I spent too much time trying to get my resistor off the wire harness, because it was corroded, and still have the same problem. Waste. because I didn't check the connections for corrosion too.

If you replace both the resistor and the switch itself, and the relay and it still does the same thing... then clean your connections.
