Nothing. I have also contacted Howe, in Lakeside, CA. They have done some setups for Race trucks, so hopefully they will help
 
Howe answered today. They deal with prerunner rangers all the time. He said they would gladly help. I'll keep you guys updated

Any updates on this? I am having some nagging issues with my truck that I think a new PS pump would fix, and want to do this swap/upgrade rather than wasting money on a direct replacement pump. Can anyone help with any of these options?


  • The complete Saginaw pump listed at the beginning of this thread. ThatGuy said he had some that he was rebuilding or that could be rebuilt. I'd be willing to buy complete or buy the parts from him and replace the pump part
  • The custom bracket ThatGuy was making and was going to sell. Was to be able to work with a a complete pump still available at parts stores (not sure which one) What happened with that bracket?
  • This horseshoe bracket option that just recently came into the picture. Not sure which pump this would work with but it would work with OEM bracket I assume (be it slightly modified)?
 
That Guy is still prototyping the bracket. He sold the one he made for his explorer. He doesn't have any of the Cardone 20-6244 pumps. They have been swamped at Duff which is keeping them from building it. I've seen what they have so far, it's far off from production ready.

Howe wrote back saying they would help and contact them through their email address. They said they have been dealing with desert rangers for years.

PSC finally got back with me. They pumps they have will not fit the bracket in factory form. I have sent them all the pictures of my Cardone mounted up. Also sent them pictures on how the bracket was modified and what the pump looks like. I haven't heard anything since then (Monday)

If you are wanting a replacement right now, talk to Howe. Other than that, you can try locating a 20-6244.

I'll try to keep this thread updated with anything I find out.
 
I have done this swap and it was really easy. I believe I asked for the "heavy duty" option power steering pump for a 78 F250 or 350...from Advance Auto Parts. The stock bracket needed a little grinding, and everything else hooked right back up, no problems. MY problem was the pump was STILL a little noisy, so I ditched it for the "original"...yet another rebuild...which was noisier than anything my truck had had thus far.
 
Yes 35, that sounds right. The only problem is you have to be extremely lucky to find one at the parts store.

Im trying to get to the JY, but havent had any luck gettin there yet.

As I said before, check into Howe. They make applications for 5.0 swapped rangers along with performance pumps for the stock form. Still nothing new from PSC. They said they "think" the external reservoir pump will work with the modified bracket and their horseshoe mount, but wasn't positive. I told them to send me one, and I would test it... Haven't heard anything since.
 
Still trying... Latest response from PSC:

"The Problem with the cardone pump is the shaft. It puts a load to far out of the bearing and causes issues and of course they are hard to find. I am sure the horseshoe will work it will require a bunch of hacking on it and the old bracket"

Trying to see if they will attempt to make it work, but I told them I am not excited to drop 300 bucks on a power steering pump and it not work. I'll let you guys know...
 
Emailed Jeff again asking if he made just a bolt in upgrade pump to the factory Ranger setup. As soon as I hear back, I'll post it up
