rear hitch for Bronco II

I was wondering what everyone is doing for a rear hitch. I hunt and had a cargo carrier for my explorer that I now want to put on the bronco II. also might do some light towing (12-14ft jon boat). So show me what yall have. I'm thinking about having my dad weld one up for me but would like to get some ideas from yall.

I have a reciever hitch on my 90, I've haul 16 foot flatbed trailers w my little tractor on it. My 88 just has the bumper hitch. That would be fine for a jon boat. Anything htoo much bigger I'd want something a little more solid.

I've pulled a 10" trailer with about 800Lbs of crap (furniture) on it 100 miles on the bumper. Didn't have any trouble.

back before i knew how stupid i was we had a 3/4 ton chevy trailer with a 400 gal water tank in it. i used to tow between our land and town, i always just pulled off the bumper. now remember im not condoning this just sayin.

Just because you didn't have any trouble doesn't mean it's a safe way to do things. The bumper hitch does have its limits.

well the cargo carrier is the type that slides into a 2" receiver, so I need a hitch to use that because the bronco II doesn't have much for space. The jon boat is light enough that I would pull it the 15 miles to the lake if I couldn't use the explorer.

I'm dealing with this now to.. using my bronco for work and hunting i need a hitch. I've been looking online but i cannot figure out what is what.. Some hitches say the gas tank skid plate has to be removed.. And then the other issue is I need a hitch with the receiver in the cross tube. not below it. Any ideas???

But for sure get a hitch for hauling something of any weight

I knew I had to replace my sending/float unit in my '84, but wanted
to do a hitch also. Had asssumed it would be much easier with the
tank out. I found one specifically for it (Bronc II) on the 'bay.
Scored it for $50. I'm glad I did it all at once, as the hitch mounts
to the inner frame rails, have no idea how I would've accomplished
this with the gas tank/ skid plate on. Drilled three new holes per
side, mounted it up, replaced sending unit, gas gauge now operational
and can tow whatever ! Not quite legal like yet, as I don't have
wiring connection yet. But hitch has come in very handy, pulling
a couple of stuck vehicles out this winter.
