Rangebe...version 2.0

Im going on my honeymoon this Friday, and get back July 29...

and on July 30 Im going racing with the Ranger, mud racing :) so Ive been tuning and doing little tweaks to get it ready for the mud bogs. Hopefully Ill be able to get video of the races. Entering the stock class, I figure I should be light enough to do okay. I finished welding the front cross member, and will build a bumper off of it eventually.

Front crossmember is finished. Did a bit of tuning to the Ranger, getting her ready for the mud races.

First swapped out t-cases. The one in it had a small leak, but after a wheeling trips worth of abuse, was leaking almost a litre of ATF a week. I had this t case from my old ranger that DIDNT leak, so I swapped it in.

also, you can notice Duty through the window :D

looks a little bare without the rest of the bumper built, or without the winch, but will have to do until I have time. Will more than suffice for mud racing.

I also changed the oil, changed the spark plugs, changed the air filter, greased front wheel bearings, and cut off the muffler :)

I have one last thing to do before going to the mud races, and thats to make like a rubber mat skid plate to cover the bottom (open portion) of the rad, and to act kind of like a slip, and to make sure the rad doesnt plug up, will do that maybe tomorrow. peace.

On my ranger I made my skirt out of an old bed mat. I wrapped it around my crossmember and put two holes in it and secured it with nuts and bolts I had layin around. Made it great so I can take it off and reuse it and not have holes drilled into anything on the truck. I did notice that I still got a good coating on part of the radiator but I think some of it actually came in threw the grill.
Good luck with the mud races. I had a helluva good time doin it. It was my first time and now I cant wait to do it again!

Just looked at the pic of your truck again. Man you gotta allota radiator showin! Your prolly gonna have a lot more rubber involved in your front skirt. Make sure to have someone take lots of pics. I regret not havin one of my buds takin a bunch of pics.

awesome work man, i really like how that truck is evolving into a massive 4wd machine.

oh, forgot to mention that I have this on the way:

synthetic line for my winch.

what do you have the settings set to on your welder?

I was welding 1/4" plate to the frame, so the welder was at its limits of what it can do. Settings were voltage: 4 wire speed: 60 and I had my gas regulator set at about 18 ish. I just adjust my wire speed based on how it feels. And this was with 0.030 wire.

holy shit! wire speed of 60?? Everything else is the same on mine. For some reason the guy i bought mine from made a mark on it that the welder works good at. Its between 20-30 i think. I have tried going higher and lower, and it goes ape-shit. So i just leave it at that setting.

Gas is the same. 18-20

Well I leave tomorrow for my honeymoon, so had to tie up some loose ends on Rangebe for when I get back, because Im leaving the next morning.

made my mud skirt, used some cheap floor mats :D

will stop a lot of mud plugging up the rad, but will still allow some air flow.
