Be sure to let us know how you like that welder.

I've been looking at a Handler 140 for the better part of a year.

Edit: Pics of your tool set would be neat too. I'm surprised that a guy as capable of you only has the one tool box stack. Let's see what you've got crammed in there!

thanks for the compliment. Theres really not much to see, in fact most of those drawers are empty. Just basic hand tools, a grinder, drill, and welder, thats all you need. You can do ANYTHING with just those, any other tool just makes things easier.

yeah its my bread and butter...I grew up in Nova Scotia, so was basically bottle fed the stuff....that and rum....:D

did some maintenance on the ranger, changed oil/filter and changed the air filter....guess the last wheeling trip was a little messier than I thought :D

I just got the older model of it (Handler 135) which is awesome. Did some practice burning with it yesterday and LOVE it. Much better than the Lincoln I was using, but that also might be due to the change from Flux Core to Gas line. I think for the price, it is an awesome machine. Especially since you can just plug it in to any socket.

Welder works awesome. Figured Id do a bit of electrical however to make it perfect. The welder will use 20 A, and all the plugins were 15 A. I could have just dealt with blowing breakers, but I would rather not. I had an electrician buddy help me out. There was a breaker not being used in the panel, so we swapped it for a 20 A breaker (red toggle), ran 12-2 wiring, and used a plug rated at 20 A. Should ensure I dont have any problems and can weld without worrying about the electrical system.

Then got the cab corner trimmed up and burned into place.

body work welds....for those who dont know, body work involves a TON of small tacks, as to not burn through the metal. It will all be ground down later

Still need to grind the welds down, and paint. Then on to the driver's side cab floor.

looks good buddy!

Yea whenever I am welding, all the lights in the house flicker. lol

Got the cab corner finished...welded and ground smooth, no need for body filler on a trail rig.

primed

sideprimer.jpg

painted

paintedcabcorner.jpg

then attacked the rusty floor

rustyfloor.jpg

cut out bad parts

floorcut.jpg

and patched and primed, I also painted it, and am going to fibreglass it.

patchedfloor.jpg

cab mount that was broken

brokencabmount.jpg

fixed, also notice that I started hacking apart my bumper/mounts....going to be putting winch plate in soon.

fixedcabmount.jpg

and painted flares/below body lines.

sidepainted.jpg

next on the list...finish winch plate and bob the bed....

and a Dana 44 with Dana 50 centre section/axleshafts, coilovers, Ford 9", 37's, and a 302

:)

stay tuned boys..

wait... thought this one was to stay small for the time being? lol

I never said how long stage 1 was going to be :P the build will be long and drawn out over the next year or 2 anyways, building the motor and axles as time/money allows.

Also, think Im taking Rangebe to compete in some mud drag racing, well see how she does.

Well started on the winch bumperish type thing...

cut a piece of 1/4" angle to fit.

the Hobart Handler 135 is a great little welder, loving it so far, and as you can see, can burn a decent bead.
