Rangebe...version 2.0

so are you going to keep the 50 beams or swap to 44 with the 50 hog head?

44 pig on one side, 50 pig on the other, doubler, and 3 driveshafts - 2 fronts and a rear

50 pig will bolt to the 44 beams, same bolt pattern. Using 44 beams, with 50 pig and axlshafts, and outers. Have to cut/weld the ends of the 50 beams to the 44 beams, well the bottom half at least. The 50 and 44 share the same top joint.

Thats about as close to 1 ton TTB as your gonna get!

Jim needs to make a custom badge for you.

1 Ton TTB

Hhahah, this is going to be interesting, you do amazing work so it should be flawless.

it may be easier to cut the whole end off and replace, i believe the d44 beam needs ALOT of clearance for the 1 ton joint.

not much clearencing. Gwaii has done it before, and said this was the best way to do it, so Ill try that first.

progress....

my winch has been sitying for a couple months since I parted out Rangebe v1.0, so when I hooked up the solenoids the other night, it didnt work.

tested the motor, and it ran, so figured my solenoids were bad.

tore apart my solenoid box, and turns out a wire had come uncrimped.

so crimped some new connectors, and waterproofed them, also went through all the connections, cleaned them up, and sealed up the box.

also noticed part of a seal sticking out from the winch drum, so I took it apart, and both seals were shot, so I got some new ones, greased everything, and reassembled it.

had to trim the front panel some so I could switch between in/free spool

bolted/welded my winch plate in, installed winch and wiring, bolted up the aluminum hause, then began to spool the new synthetic line. Just hooked up the line to the Duty, and spooled the line on the drum. Synthetic is much more picky than steel about being spooled on the drum under load I find.

I am going to add some more gusseting to the plate/crossmember, although the whole thing is plenty strong as it is.

Eventually Ill build a tube bumper around the whole thing.

Peace.

brackets arent going in until I build the 44/50. The brackets/front axle/coilovers as well as the rear inboarded leaves/sterling and 302 will all be going in at once. Im going to build all the components and swap them in at the same time to eliminate down time.

Free spool lever not clockable like a Warn?

nope not clockable. phenomenal winch however.

Finally got a chance to tear down the Dana 44 Ive had sitting around. What a heck of a time to get it stripped down to the beams. Anyways, got it all tore apart, happened to find an ORANGE carrier inside the pig, weird. Also took the beams to the car wash and pressure washed the crud off of them. Now just need to get a 50, and make my 44/50 hybrid.
