That's an Eaton gov-lock or some people call them a gov-bomb, they work fine right up to the point they explode... taking out the carrier.
Well, that one lasted 255,000 miles without fail until the company scrapped it for no reason. After putting 6 new tires on it and a fresh oil change. :icon_twisted:

Sgt…. What you mean how clean stuff looks?

He's used to frames rusting in half without serious attention, you know, rust belt things :)

Spent the day grinding. Both literally and figuratively…. Grinding rivets out for the coil buckets, and the passenger side TIB mount.

Let me tell you guys, the pass side TIB mount is a BITCH to remove!! If anyone has ever removed one with the engine still installed, I am amazed!!! I know it didn’t have to be removed, but I wanted a clean crossmember.

Also removed the exhaust…. It was rusted anyway.

Found that the 3.0 Y-Pipe is still good. Anyone know if that will mount to a 4.0?

Pics to follow tomorrow….

Driver side. (Notice the pass side beam bracket missing. Grinding those rivets was not fun!!)

… and the passenger side. Fortunately, this side had the bolted bracket for the driver side beam. MUCH easier to remove.

You need an air hammer and good curved chisel. You can have both buckets, radius arm crossmember, and beam brackets off in under 15 minutes.

Working on getting a compressor working again. but no shop air at the moment

i just use a cut off wheel and a flappinator

but the hd snap on air chisel could pop them right off.

Been a few weeks (months 🤦🏼‍♂️), but I got the spring perches on my D70 rear moved to the correct positions, now to get bolts made and start SASing the front.

Acquired a D44 for the brackets and all, but I’m gonna swap in a D60 using D44 stuff.

But I kinda wanna SAS my 89 with the D44 and 9” combo.

Would you use these brackets, or find another set and use those and swap both?
