I have a 1999 ranger pickup that has poor fuel economy issues I've done everything I've studied on this forum and nothing works I'll list all the repairs and I've gotten a sad 16mpg.

cleaning injectors (old)
changing spark plugs (new, wires and plugs)
changing maf sensor (new)
changing o2 sensor (new)
changing iac valve (new)
changing tps sensor (new)
new fuel pump
I removed the fan clutch and converted it to an electric fan
new thermostat
new egr valve
new air filters

I should make that clear I'm not a mechanic I haven't been able to do any fuel pressure, piston or choke tests. What I did manage to see were the smoke tests to look for air leaks that were repaired. Most of the changes have greatly improved the driving experience, the car is reliable, it no longer feels accelerated and it maintains its rpm stable.

data
stopped rpm 700-730
working temperature 86 to 90 degrees by the fan sensor
the following data I see with my code reader in real time and they are stable since the change of the maf and the o2 sensor
stft= -13 and 10 at 700rpm
ltft= -5 and 5 point

so guys I ask for help I don't know what to do anymore

Being that your profile says you are from Guatemala, we need to clear some things up first since this is primarily a North American Ranger oriented forum.

The 2.5 liter engine you speak of, is it the 2.5 Lima or some other engine? If another engine, our help is going to be more generic. Especially if it's a diesel.

being very honest I don't know how to identify the engine of my car but what I do know is that its origin was from the USA since a relative brought it to my country.

And after all thank you

Since it came from the United States, it would have the 2.5 Lima engine then.

The fuel mileage you are getting, is this from just driving around town or do you drive on highways? It makes a difference and from what you are describing being done to the truck, it sounds like it should running as efficiently as it can.

Based on the fuel mileage my old 1998 Ranger with the same engine got, 16 miles per gallon with only driving around town is within reason. The best mine ever got was 22 mpg with straight highway driving. Supposedly, the truck is able to get something like 25 mpg with that engine on the highway but I never saw that kind of mpg out of the truck even though it was a regular cab, short bed, with a manual transmission and no air conditioning or fancy electronics. It really couldn't get any more basic in configuration.

Ive heard that the 2.5 lima did use a little more fuel than the 2.3 lima, and depending on gearing the 2.3 lima isnt all that high, my ‘88 2.3 got the best at 28 but most of the time was 23 (2wd/3.73/manual) my last 2.3 had a manual with 4.10’s & got 21 at best (also a 2wd) Id run a compression test & see where it is, not so much specific pressures but all cylinders close to the same readings. Might question the catalytic converter, if its plugged or partially plugged that could cause milage loss. Ive never drove/owned a 2.5 lima but have had a few of the 2.3’s that the 2.5 is based off of.
