Did some work last night.
Got my 760 long side shaft last night and picked up some Spicer joints.
The old joints were is good shape, but showed how cheap they were when a bearing cap actually crumbled when I hit it with a brass punch. I would expect hardened bearings to split and have a sharp crack, but these deformed and broke apart like cast aluminum.lol
I didn't realize that the ring gear had to come off to slip out the crosspin, so that added some unexpected work. I also didn't realize the crosspin would have a roll pin retainer instead of a bolt. I thought the po had twisted a bolt off in it at first.
760 shafts
Here are comparison pics
297 vs 760
Fullsize long side vs EB long side
760 yokes vs EB (260?)
EB vs 760 shafts
I had to trim about a 1/2" off the short side inner and about a 1/4" off the long side inner since the blocks in the spool push the shafts out a 1/4" on each side. The fullsize short side inner is 3/8" longer than the EB from the get go.
I still need to get the wheel bearings and seals done before Bundy, but it got late last night and I called it quits. So ill do those tonight since the passenger actually has some hard spots when you roll it.
