Neutral safety switch location

I ran the paperclip method for my 1992 Ford ranger 2.9l automatic engine and got a code of 67; which is the neutral safety switch, but I can't find it on the truck. Please help! I realized that I didn't touch the brake will doing the KOEO test either, could that be the problem?
 
Best I can say is it should be in the side of the transmission, quite often in the driver side. What position was the transmission in? I think it should indicate neutral whether in park or neutral. So, if it was in park, try putting it in neutral and see if that gives a different result. You shouldn’t have to touch the brakes during engine off code reading..
 
Look on the transmission.

67 doesn't mean the switch is defective, it means the processor thinks the truck is not in park or neutral.

So, if it was in park, try putting it in neutral and see if that gives a different result. You shouldn’t have to touch the brakes during engine off code reading..
When I did the test, I had the truck in parked and I can try that when I run the codes again. Thanks!

That’s possible. Think of it this way. When your fuel gauge tells you the tank is empty, do you replace the gauge or fill the tank? That code is the same way. All it knows is that it is not getting a signal to verify that the transmission is in neutral. It doesn’t know the difference between “transmission not in neutral” or “switch is bad” or “linkage needs adjustment” or switch wire is unplugged or broken, etc. that’s what troubleshooting is all about. Analyze the evidence and see where it leads you.
