Hello, I have a 2011 XL 2WD with the 2.3L. Truck is in great shape. No rust. 111k miles. Runs great. When I bought the truck about a year and a half ago it had a traction control light on. Very shortly after the ABS light came on as well. I have made multiple attempts to fix this including putting a salvage module and pump in it twice, sending the original module to be "fixed," pairing the original module with a different pump..... Best I was able to get was having all the codes except a VIN mismatch code to clear, so I'm pretty sure it's not a wheel sensor or brake light switch. I have had a local dealer try to reprogram the module. They were unable. I had another company that supposedly specializes in auto pcm and module repair/programing fix it and they were unable. At this point I am considering trying to find a junk Ranger that has no dash lights on, pulling the pcm and the abs module and putting them in my truck. Is this a viable option or would I run into issues with other modules in the truck that would not match up with the salvage pcm? I've been trying to fix this for over a year and am getting pretty fed up. I talked to a different Ford dealer today and they said a new abs module, diagnostics and such would probably have me in the $3000-$5000 range to repair. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you all.

Yes you are going to run into other modules not accepted on the network. I haven't looked at your particular model, but there is usually a module in the instrument cluster, you have the "smart junction box" module, which is really a circuit board underneath the fuse box. You might have another body module floating around there too, sometimes it's mounted on the back of the cab wall behind the driver's seat.

Thank you Franklin2. Such a shame. It’s a nice truck, otherwise. The county I live in here in Maine won’t give it an inspection sticker if there are any engine or indicator lights on. Might be running out of options. The second salvage module I bought online looked identical to the one I took out, but when I went to get it programmed they said it couldn’t be programmed to the truck because it was the wrong part number. I’m leary about trying to buy another one online now.
