I never knew they made a lightning variant of the Ford Ranger. What a good watch.

Jim has an article on it

2002 Ford Ranger Lightning Bolt

Saw that video when it went live and can't say I was that impressed by James and Vins coverage of it. There could be a little envy talking.

It was good to see that this concept is still around and in good shape.

They said it felt like a stock truck. I'd argue that a lot of the V8 Rangers must feel like a stock truck. Those wheels, though... One set of those, please!

Compared to modern vehicles it is a slippery slope.

My V8 Ranger is down 100hp to my wife's 300hp 4cyl Bronco.

HOWEVER it is nearly double the hp of the stock 2.8... It might feel stock compared to something but it doesn't feel like a stock 2.8 Ranger.

IMO it really feels like how it should have from the factory. And while down on torque SOHC 4.0 Ranger's have about the same hp so I must not be too far off.

Almost 400hp in a little 2wd Ranger should be moderately spicy. That is Coyote power in something lighter than a stock Coyote Mustang with horrible weight bias.

Those were standard Lightning wheels. I'm a huge fan of this style
