The Torsen found within the Ranger is listed as having a TBR (Torque Biasing Ratio) of 2.1/2.3 Drive/Coast. Aftermarket units meanwhile are closer to 4:1 TBR.... Anyone know what the pros and cons are to having a higher/lower TBR?

If I was to guess, I'd say Ford used such a low ratio to avoid oversteer. That's my partially educated guess though and am hoping for a more confirmative answer

There are two models sold after market. T2 for the 2:1 factory ratio mentioned above and T2R that is the 4.1. I’m drawing the model numbers off memory, so I might be off. The R is meant more for the racing application and I get the impression that they are a bit quirky for the average driver. For off road use, they would be the better option if you don’t want to go with a locker.

As far a specifics, I have none. Just what I’ve seen from researching the subject.

I suppose that confirms my suspicion then sgtsandman, Ford attempting to avoid lawsuits related to drivability
