Buddies dad picked up KyleM's old explorer sport DD, gonna sas with full widths. He used to have a 79 f150 truggy. Now he wants something more dd friendly and reliable. I agreed to do the work for him, I look at it as practice. My wife has a 98 XLT V8 explorer and in the spring shes gettig a D30 and 33's.

Run down on this build.....
1995 Explorer sport
4.0L m5ord and 1350 (eventually auto of some sort and most likely a 1354)
78/9 D44 5.13's Aussie, old school yukons (the good ones) with yukon super joints
9" with 5.13 and spool
38.5x14x15 TSL's on Beadlocks (my old locks I built years ago)
Radius Arm front with EB coils, maybe an 78/9 steering box (maybe)

Before Pic, who's straight, clean ranger is that? Looks similar to Kyles beat and dented ranger:icon_rofl:

Got the old 8.8 out and a 9" in position. temporary on the mono leaf. Plan to change that later. But needed to get the rear sitting on the SOA to get ride height so I could set the front. Thanks to Ozziemoe for welding up the rear spring perches. I recently moved into a new house and won't have my 220 for my compressor, plasma, and welder till tomorrow.

Hoping to have it wheelable by the 27th.

Excellemt excellent...I just need to mount the coil towers and track bar mount and buy a steering box...and lil odds and ends..Im almost there...

Did you do all that in 1 day?

sweet! i hope to do the same thing to my 4 door 2000 EX one day.

Only been able to work on it in short increments, but have been keeping a tally on my time. I am trading my labor on the job for the owners labor on some wood working/house type stuff. I have about 7 hrs in total right now.

Few less brackets in the way, now to the grinding of the remants. I hate grinding with a passion.

Started mocking up the coil buckets, trac bar mount, and gear box mount. Spent some time building a plate to strengthen the frame rail along the gear box mounting. Got the drivers frame rail all cleaned up. Still need to clean the pass rail. Also had to unfubar some previous fubaring on the front axle housing.

Ozziemoe stopped and helped out with a bunch of stuff today, thanks Buddy :thumb:

Enjoying a coors light because I am finally done grinding all those factory welds/brackets off that damn explorer frame lol.

I laughed my ass off when i seen the Ranger so clean and pretty

Looking good!

A couple of quick questions for ya..

1) What/Where are those coil buckets out of?
2) Whose coils are you planning on running?
3) Total lift?

Thanks!

6-7"s of lift est.

Coil buckets were from a 79f150
Coils are deaver superflex, 5.5 lift but they will get cut down to fit. Plan is to drive it under my 6'10 garage door.

Bolted the pass side bucket on tonight, got the axle in position. The trac bar lined up perfect (factory bar from the 79). The drivers radius arm mounts right behind the trans crossmember, but do to the design of the crossmember the pass side arm mount conflicts with the crossmember. Play more tomorrow.

Also picking up a 1354M begining of next week for it.
