i have my broncoII sitting on a 1976 chevy half-ton frame but i need to make the springs much softer..........its killing my articulation.

how can i do this? they really don't need to carry much load at all

I'd say remove some leaves and re-arch what's left. I've never done this so it's just speculation. Or take out all but the main leaf and add in thinner leaves from a b-II or some other trucks thin leaves? Similar to a 63-4" chevy spring swap.
Good luck,
Richard

ok so what if i went down to just 1 leaf.......a lot of explorers are a mono leaf. and these leaves are designed to carry a huge load compared to what i need it for which is trail use almost exclusively

I'd say do it and add leaves as necessary. I'll be doing the same with my chevy spring swap.

dont go to one leaf! mono-leaf ex's are designed for that.

how many leafs are in each pack? i'd start by taking out one, then go from there. dont forget, softter springs may have more spring wrap

I would go with at least 2 leaves, and you might try replacing the bushings and shocks while your at it. I personally never like having less than 2 leaves, but since I slam the suspension a lot, I need to have something there to absorb the impact shock. But whatever you do, just make sure you have enough to carry your loads and be able to go wheeling. Just throwin this out there, but some people also use air helper springs ;) Hope this helps!

well about a month ago, shortly after posting this i just pulled out 3 leaves....and now they're plenty soft enough:

those are bone-stock springs, no lift or anything, i got 33" of lift before another tire came off the ground, not too shabby for stock springs
